Hi All,
Im new here, and so far im enjoying reading through the forums and stuff...
Anyway, i have an EL Falcon Futura Sedan coming my way soon and i am looking at comments/suggestions on audio setup. It currently has the fully stock mid-range audio in it.
I am looking for very good sound quality, punchy bass (not loud rumbles) and i want it to look stock for security reasons. My budget will be around $2000 for the whole lot, but may be convinced to spend a little more.
Thanks in advance, and i look forward to reading...

Mate do a search - and read all the threads on people that have asked to "recommend me a system" - you'll end up with a JVC MP3 Headunit / Hertz Splits / undecided on the amps and subs.
Draw up a short list and ask us what it's like...
Then we can give you guidance - there's heaps of good gear out there.

Also, what do you want to upgrade and what components do you want to buy? Here's a quick list of brands you may want to audition.
HU: Alpine, JVC, Pioneer, Clarion, Eclipse
Splits: Morel, Hertz, Alpine, MB Quart, Infinity, Focal, Boston
Amps: Audison, Alpine, Phoenix Gold, JL, Soundstream
Subs: JL, Kicker, Image Dynamics, DLS, ADS, MTX, Alpine, Boston

The Hertz amps also make it into the SQ Best Buy category. There is a lot of choice out there....
A 4 channel amp, 2 to front splits and 2 bridged to a sub is probably the best cost effective way, but 2 separate amps for front stage and sub duties is preferred and over time, most peeps end up going this way *looks in mirror*
Warning: spend much time at CAA and learn to hold on tight to that wallet
And....welcome aboard!!
Suggestion: check out the Events Forum for the Xmas meet in Melbourne and check out some nice systems, hear a range of stuff, talk to the people, much to learn, have a larf, good folks our Victorians.

i'd be recommending a similar setup to this. the basic configuration being:
HU + 6~6.5" front splits + 3/4-channel amp + single 12" sub
my suggestion would be:
*HU: alpine CDM-7874 RRP$499, streetprice a little less
*hertz HSK165 6.5" splits: as already suggested, excellent value; sound more expensive than they are
* coustic 481QE 4x60WRMS into 4ohm amp; very nice; run in 3-channel mode for 2x60+1x240WRMS, streetprice ~$500
*1x 12" sub: JL audio 12W0 or alpine SWS-1241 type-S; streetprice ~$250
will leave a few hundred $$ required for the subbox, cabling, and installation.
but indeed there's plenty of choice available...so good luck.

A few people have suggested the Hertz as an SQ amp, and I am not going to say they are wrong but the new Audison SRx range is around the same price point as the Hertz but even more SQ pointed.
WEB AUDIO DIRECT should soon have all the SRx and LRx units available.

Ive also got an EL and have ried to keep it as stock looking as possible.
To do this, you can keep the original rear speakers for rear fill. As for teh front, some decent 6.5" splits shoudl fit nicely into the standard holes. Then just put the original grill over it. Looks stock standard if you can find somewhere to put the tweeters.
