hey all i am currently thinking of purchasing a pair of a/d/s 346is series splits, but cant demo them as they arnt on the board (as if that would justify them)just after anyones opinions on these or any of a/d/s' gear.
the sales dude has offered for me to have the splits for a couple of weeks to demo and decide on them + there are at wat i would call a decent price.
cheers dave

Not being familiar with the actual splits......
Certainly a/d/s have an excellent reputation.

What sort of $$ are we talking here, as there may be some others better-known that could make useful comparison etc...?

How can you go wrong? Demo away. I've heard one of their amps running a set of MB Quarts, and it was one of the sweetest setups!

The reputation is brilliant, so if you've got the opportunity to demo in-car for a few weeks, don't give it up!!

What series are they? Price??

the a/d/s 346is are 6" splits with crossover able to be bi-ampable or bi-wired. the x-over has a switch for 3 tweeter setting and another swith for "demo" or "car" when you switch it to car it somehow draws the sound stage forward, demo is for when you are standing around your car. if any1 on here has any information on these x-overs it would be good.
as for price i got them for $1225

wow, they should be good for that kinda money!

if you have a 'no obligation' try before you buy arrangement, then go for it.

BUT, be very strong about it, and don't feel compelled to buy (out of guilt) if you don't like them.

obviously a high quality installation is helpful to get the most from them, as well as top quality amp/HU/source.

good luck

Be sure to get the "You no like, you can return" offer in writting!

There may be a "Sorry, you have put a mounting screw mark on them" clause.

How many other cars have they been in?

Seen a few people suckered on this type of deal before!

A/D/S have a not too shabby reputation but be warned - If your amp is not up to it they will sound less than brilliant.

So you could be on the up grade road before long!

BTW if they are $1225 at a U-Beaut price what are they at normal RRP?
I take it they make coffee, clean shoes and perform the duties of a girlfriend / mistress, also at that price?

well i have now driven halfway up the coast and back with these in my car.
the verdict: LOVE.
i had them running from 200rms a side of my PPI and mmmmmmmmmmm yummy, the doors are yet to be completly deadend and still they sound orgasmic.
they are a warm sound that is matched perfectly with its mids.
i had the crossovers on "car mode" and tweeter setting on low, I will now always be taking the long way home.
