i have installed the first part of my new system and have discovered 2 probs. first is that sometimes when i change tracks on the CD or MD, i hear a small crackle, like bad lines. second is that i can hear a very faint hum that keeps pace with engine acceleration all the time.

any help would be appreciated coz i dont want to install any more gear until i fix the probs. i am running Alpine HU and slave unit, RF Symmetry and PPI PC6600 using Boston pro splits. RCAs are jaycar (the chunky ones), and cable is all reasonably good quality as large as can sensibly be used. thanks for any help in advance...

they humming noise will most likely be engine noise caused by one of your RCA's being too close to a power cable...

Ideally the best way to avoid this is to run RCA on the oppersite side of the car to the power, if you have already done this, make sure that they dont run parallel to your HU power cable, or ECU (and other car related) wiring looms/computers.

Another thing to check it that your earths are good, and that the chassis of the amp and HU arent directly earthed to the chassis as this *can* cause noise.
