Hi everyone, I'm looking for a good set of 8" three way splits that use a dome midrange with a sealed rear chamber. Other than the Dynaudio system 360's, what is out there??

They will be run passive, with at least 300rms per side available (from cadence A4).

Budget - up to $2000.

Best man to talk to about an alternative to Dyn 360s is prob Hutch, who imports them

He will have a bunch of new Image Dynamics stuff coming soon and they have a carbon fibre 8" that has a huge rep.

These look interesting. Nothing wrong with a 9" mid

I'd really prefer a sealed chamber midrange though...

Does anyone know where I can get more specs and info on these drivers?? The website is a little thin...

that's a pretty specific requirement!

once morel stock returns, you can look at their range, although i don't believe they offer a complete 3-way set including matching passive xover.

for a 6.5" woofer, consider the hertz mille series components.

hertz website

but, nothing wrong with the dyn setup.

In addition the well known System 360 we also have the 360 Special Edition which uses the MD-130 tweeter retailing for $1699. Also, for those with a thing for really big tweeters, the System 360 Esotar at $2499. (A bit hard to install however!)

No, there's definately nothing wrong with the dyn's, I'm just curious what else is out there. I fully expect to settle with the system 360's and be plenty happy with them.

Don't suppose you know when Morel will be available again??

You could try the Hertz
HV200 or HV200L are 8" midbass
HD500 are a dome mid range
HT250 are a dome tweeter.
Both the HM500 and HT250 are part of the Mille range (Hertz's top end speakers) and use a sealed rear chamber.

Prices are available in the on line store.

I am not aware of any 8" midbass drivers in the range but there may be one coming, let me make some enquiries.

There was chat about 8" ID mid-basses on the Carsound site a little while ago.

Edit: Someone was using them with ID Comp 2 horns. Now that be sweet!!

Another edit: mighta been IDQ8s of some version too....
