G'day, I am running 2 sets of type R splits and a set of clarion 6x9's and wondering if i should get rid of the 6x9's for SQ and staging issues. Any thoughts? oh also I am running the splits of an amp but not the 6x9's.
Cheers

Why don't you just disconnect the 6x9's and see how it sounds? That way you don't go to the trouble of removing them and realising you want them back in. I would also suggest you disconnect the 'middle' speakers as they would also be dragging the sound stage to the rear. Just a suggestion.
Good luck.
you could high pass the 6x9's so that you wouldn't have to be thinking you are wasting them!

i made the same mistake. i went out and spent $300 on a pair of 6 b 9's just to put them on high pass. oooh
well these things happen

How about getting the middle set of splits up front too and have a meaty frontstage, and leave the 6x9's as they are!

if you put the effort and expense into good front stage installation, you should find the other speakers are superfluous.
so things like sound deadened and sealed front doors, angled woofers and tweets, plus well-tuned xovers and gains...should result in high SQ.
how do you fit all those speakers in a small sedan?

Thanks dudes, I ended up getting rid of the 6x9's it sounded better for SQ without them how ever staging wasnt quite as good but I'll just play with the amp to fix it! as for fitting speakers in, plenty of room mate!

what do u mean by "staging wasn't as good"?
cause in theory removing the 6x9's would mean that the soundstage would not be drawn backwards... so if anything i would have imagined it would improve?
