Well I thought Id make my topic a bit different from Walki's and make it Sound Pressure Quality instead
Basically I have a D2. Not the cleanest amp I know, but pumps bloody hard. And am looking to replace the 15's I have with either a single or a pair of 12's.
Options Im looking at atm are either 1 or 2 Kicker Square L7's and 2 Crossfire BMF's.
Anyone else have any other suggestions ?

I guess you've read the post about SQL sub choice but the Adire Brahma 12" or Image Dynamics IDmax 12" mentioned look hard to beat and would compare to 2 of most subs.
What kind of output does the D2 have?
Why you getting rid of the 15s for 12s?

The D2 puts out 2000wrms of dirty power.
If your going sealed then i would go with two Kicker 12inch L7's.
However if your going ported i would go with a sub thats designed for a ported enclosure.

I suppose you have evidence to back this up? (eg a power vs distortion graph)

hehe, I don't either but I do know quite a few people that have D2s and most would concede Maz's assertion.....

You know the L7's kick damn hard (as can be seen in andu's car) and can still sound damn nice (as in critters)...
so all in all it's an awesome sub and i am sure u would be very happy with it as u could still compete in SPL hehehe...
I have heard the DD951x's are meant to be good or SQ! and there is no doubting their kick!

Well @ 2000wrms people have said it's like 10%thd or something, but anyway, regardless, the lack of "decent" filtering within the amp could lead to different harmonics being allowed through the amp or some form of hiss or something, i'd like to see SQ with a D2 tho I reckon go 2 l7's, can't beat them

if not drivin too hard the d2 should be fine
how much you looking at spending

SPQ (or SQL, depending on what school you went to....) is the Way of the Future

Thats because they were clipping the amp when testing.. If you don't clip the amp, then the THD will be low enough..

SOUND PRESSURE QUALITY!!!!
as an acronym, SQL is already taken, it means structured query language, so we have no choice but to use SPQ!
and besides, SQL = Sound quality Level... it says nothign about how loud it is... where as sound pressure quality implys that there is some decent sound pressure, but it is of good quality.
case closed...

what sound are you trying to acheive?
brahma's have been very successful in SQ comps in the states, (mostly small sealed boxes)
also in SPL comps,
they go lower than anything else i've ever seen in a sealed box, and in a ported box are amoungst a few that go really low.
(not hard to get a tune that's -3db of 23Hz and flat from 26-27 upwards, yes that's from a 12" )
take 1600WRMS (though not so much at low frequencies)
mine just hit 136db @ 26Hz with only 580WRMS
imagine what you could do with 2, and 2000WRMS, and a higher tune!
i've found that for Sq they need to be tuned low, because around the tuning frequency they have a large group delay peak, so pushing that peak into subsonic frequencies avoids that issue, the rest of the GD curve is pretty low and flat,

Geez, leave this topic alone for a few days and don't read the forums and come back and there is another 10 replies !!
Ok, what am I trying to achieve - good question Basically I want a good daily driver system. So in short, loud and low. But also have the ability to go in the occasional SPL comp if I so wish.
That's where the L7's kinda came in as an idea and full to Andu and Critter for what they have done with theirs has given me that idea.
Definitely the Brahma's kick ass Ben, but I am strictly on a budget of $1k here and I don't think I will get 2 Brahma's for that will I ?
Anyone else have any other suggestions ?
