hi, my mate just bought one of these subs.
and i was just wondering what would be a good box for it...either sealed of ported.. i don't spose it would suit an open air install??
thanks

the specs i have are:
*Fs 37.1Hz
*Qts 0.85
*Vas 2.11cuft
you should probably confirm the specs coz they're a little unusual.
from those specs, i'd be using a sealed box, as big as possible. clarion recommend 1.25cuft, but 2~3cuft would be nicer (less boomy).
good luck

yeah shiny, they are the specs (Qts is 1.53/0.85 thou if that makes any difference)
I run these subs (2 of them) in 2 separate sealed 1.25cu.ft enclosures inside the one box.
I think it's nice and tight, as shiny said thou, could be too "boomy" in a SQ system, I haven't set my SQ system up with them as yet (still getting parts).

hey, how much power are you giving your subs?? i would prolly prefer to put them in a ported box, as to get a bit more low end.

I was only feeding them roughly 100-130WRMS (4x50WRMS amp bridged to 2 chans)
They rated to 125WRMS per coil and 250WRMS for the sub.
I haven't tried them in a ported box, nor ever seen them run in ported boxes (Clarion themselves always use sealed boxes for these subs) but by all means if ported is the go, go for it, if you don't like it you can always switch to sealed, not like it's a huge deal.
Let me know how it goes, I would be interested in your thoughts on it

the high Qts suggests they do not perform very well for SQ in a ported box. will be difficult to 'tune' for nice musicality without some major EQ work.
