Sorry mate, I couldn't reply to your PM cos your inbox was full.
Which USA-400 do you have? Is it the old 1200 watter or the new 400 watt version? If you're using it to power subs I think you've made a good choice. These amps are way underrated and have very high damping factor. Perfect for subs. Just make sure your power supply has enough juice to power the amp.
Cheers, Brian.

yeh it is the older one, bout 3-4 yrs old.. but it is basically in near new condition.
i will be using it to run an 18" sub... and from time to time i will run two type r subs.
wot are they worth roughly??
i'll post up some pics later on...

Well I use to have a florida splash USA-100HC which is basically the same as the USA-400 but only 1/2 ohm stable. I bought it brand new back in 1998 for $1400. There use to be a US Amps distributor here in Aus quite a while ago and the USA-100HC retailed for $2199, so yours should've been the same. You can pick a 2nd hand one for about US$300-400 on eBay.
To get max power out of the amp I'd try to get a 1-ohm mono load even though its only rated at 2-ohm mono.
What colour did you get?

mine is like a dark blue colour with little red parts on it... the other side has a clear perpex cover showing off the guts...
would you reccomend getting a new batt and alt?? or could i just get away with getting a new batt without getting the alt done??
and would you think a usa200 will be suitable for front stage application?? i can pick one up for bout 400 bux, in top condition too...

The colour that you got is called the florida splash.
I'd try to fit the biggest battery you can. What is your alt rated at?
The USA-200 should be fine for front stage. US Amps now has there SQ amp which are Class A vacuum tubes which you can pick up for about a grand. But they are in the new larger heatsink and don't come in florida splash.
Where are you getting these amps from?

When I had the USA-100HC I had a yellow top, a 140 amp alt and 4 farads of capacitance. The 800 should be fine but I'd try and fit the 1000 or even the 1500 or atleast have a 2nd battery at the back.

yeh i think i'll just wait and see if i have the money to buy a larger battery, coz from wot i have heard you have to feed these amps a hell of alot of power to get their full potential out of them.
i'm not going to be upgrading my alt any time soon, so i think my 1 farad stinger cap and a larger battery will have to do.

I distinctly remember the "Florida Splash" finish on the US Amps products, you got yourself a fine amp there, go for the other one you can get also, great amps.
