Its getting closer and closer to the time where i go and purchase all this stuff. I am unsure wether to get 1 or 2 subs (Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1D)
My heart tells me 2, my mind tells me 1 (for ease of fitting it all in! very tight on space in my boot)

Im thinking 1 in a ported box about 1.75 Cu ft, tuned to 32Hz. (as per manufacturers guide).
They also specify dimentions for sealed bandpass box. but as ive never had any experience with these im not really sure (last attempt at an experimental bandpass sub was a fizzer (literally)).

And from the response curves they picture im even more confused. Could somebody please look at these and reccommend which one i should choose for SQ and some SPL.

Box Parameters for 12.1D (PDF file)

Looking to run about 350wrms at 2 ohms from a mono block

Please help

for SQ, you could afford to make the box a little bigger and tune it lower.

maybe something like:

*2cuft (nett volume, so gross volume adds in port displacement) tuned to 27Hz, which could be achieved with a round 4x20" port (given its length, may need a 90 degree elbow/bend which is easy if you use pvc water piping)

still, what looks good on software modelling doesn't always sound best in a car. so no doubt inifinity have done their homework, so their recommendation should be fine too.

i think a single sub is all you'd need for SQ. and given the power on tap from your amp, would be very well matched and should provide ample 'SPL' for good doofing.

Yeh i am definatelly going with 1 sub and a MRP-M350 amp.

well i am limited on space between the struts in the rear and also the depth of my boot.

I am gonna have a go at my first proper boot install and i think ill start by using the manufacturers guide and work with that.

I want to have a perspex wall between the sub and the open boot (hard to describe) that is not sealed just as a form of protection for the sub and to look sexy. I am just surious as to if it will affect the output?

Sounds complicated so ill draw up some pics and post them so you get what i mean

one other thing if i put a grill of some type over the port i know it will muffel it, but will it too affect output?

cheers shiny

most grills don't affect sub performance. so as long as there's plenty of 'room' for air movement, it won't be a problem.

i'm not exactly sure what you have in mind with the perspex, so i'll wait and see what your diagrams show.

Yeh ive found a few dudes that will do me good prices on stuff from the US, even after i pay postage, dutys etc it still works out alot cheaper

Ill try to do some pics up tonight!

Would generally prefer a more "idealised" single sub set-up to a compromised (too small) twin set-up.

My mail on Perfects is they are best SQ in a sealed enclosure.
