After destroying my tweeters on Sunday I've ben looking at replacements.
Has anyone tried putting a Peizo tweeter with an existing midbass driver? Specifically Jaycar's CT-1924 Bullet Piezo Tweeter. Freq responce is 1.3khz-30khz, handling is 400wrms, sensitivity is 93dB@1mtr/1W
Any suggestions, opinions and comments welcome!

i've never tried piezo tweeters, but i have thought about it. basically, those jaycar piezo tweeters are the same as is used in budget priced party speakers or PA systems, they get hella loud with little power, and disperse widely for good off-axis response, but they tend to sound brittle, harsh and coarse. they would certainly make for an insanely loud system in a car, but probably not going to satisfy you if your a critical listener.
but dont let it stop you from trying hell, for the price, it'd be worth a go, plus piezos present no load to the amplifier so its easy to add them.

It could work, although maybe not with those horns..
Also, as with any custom front stage, I would STRONGLY recommend biamping and active crossovers, since otherwise it will be fairly hard to get passive crossovers right..

scott, i've got a simple active 3 way crossover you can have to attempt this if you like,
it has switchable crossover points, i just hope you've got enough amp channels.

I might take you up on that Ben, I don't mind sacrificing my rear amp for that purpose

another thing to keep in mind with piezo and horn type tweeters is that usually, the frequency response curve looks like the himalaya's mountain range rather than the nullabor plain. all the cars i have heard about using horns and piezo's for tweets had extensive eq to belt the response into something reasonably flat.
this is a general "rule of thumb", there are probably exceptions i havent heard about, just beware that you could encounter this problem.
