hey all
im a 19 year old uni student... and have been planning my system for 2 years and saving up for 2 years...im beginning to get damn impatient now
but hey this is my proposed setup, tell us what you fink =)

h/u: 7894rb (was gonna go 7998 or hx-d1 but i got a good deal for the 7894)
front stage amp: pg zx600ti
processor: pxah600

still to come:
splits: dynaudio 360s or focal 165w3's
subs: had 2 type-rs but sold them. looking at the eclipse aluminium 12 inch. ne other suggestions?
sub amp: possibly pg ti again, or lrx
and......plenty of sound deadening

so what do you ppl think so far? ive been aiming for pretty much a top end system, ne suggestions u can make? onli another 6 months and ill have all my components... then i just need money for install. let us know wat u fink
thanx

heyt dude sounds great would love to have some of that gear. Have you thought about the xtant hexagonal subs the look mad and are supposed to top end in the SQ side of things they are around $600 for the 12" so i am guessing that is around the same as the eclipse

i have the 165w3's and i love em, i've heard equally excellent reports about the dyn's too, the dome mids might be easier to mount too

can't recommend any sub more highly than the Adire brahma,
they're doing REALLY well in SQ comps in teh states, (small sealed boxes)
and awesome in SPL comps too!
my setup is a mix between the 2
pe prepared to fork out about $1000 for a 12" but with a big enough amp, it'll be loud enough on it's own, and go plenty low enough

Someone is selling that model headunit and processor in the for sale forum at the moment...

Looks an awesome hi-power SQ combo.
Consider the PG Ti subs with all that nice PG Ti gear

If your sub amp is cool for a 2 x 2 ohm coil woofer, then yes the Brahma for a single sub instal, goes 1 ohm parallel which is The Way.
Small sealed for "pure SQ", low ported for "spectacular SQ" like Mr_Bob's. Impressive thing with a sub amp with real grunt.

Would suit the rest of the Plan real well.

Hell of a "starter system"......

nice proposed system for sure.

i'm not sure how much you plan on paying for the PXA, but it's primary benefit in your setup would be its 4-band parametric EQ. the 6-ch time alignment will add little or nothing to your 4-ch TA inbuilt in the HU, and i found the auto gain/phase setup to be of little audible value, and the autotune feature for TA not worth using (ie: best to set TA manually).

so, depending on the cost, you may be better off with an analogue EQ instead. or else consider the PXA-H510 which effectively has a 5-band parametric EQ (so includes 1-band for the subout). also uses the M-DAC and adds in dolby digital should you wish to utilise it.

a matching PG Ti monobloc would be ideal, and as mentioned, plenty of subs to choose from.

for splits, i love my dyn 2-ways. focal's are also nice, but so are alpine's SPX range and splits from a/d/s, dls, morel, etc. so audition as many as you can to help find what suits your tastes. coz i must say, i have personally found the dyn's and focal utopia's to be quite different.

good luck

cheers guys thanx for all your input
regarding the processor
i (like many others) have been waiting for the pxah700 to be released as this was what i initialy wanted for all my signal processing duties. the reason i chose the pxah600 was because i came across it 2nd hand and paid approx 500 for it and thought hey im saving nearly 1000 off the price of the pxah700. Do you think its better off just waiting for the pxah700? what i was mainly looking at was equalisation so i wonder if anyone here could tell me how many bands of eq the h700 had?

ohh and this "starter" system has taken a hell of a long time to plan and will take even longer to pay off~!~!~!

the H700 looks to be better than the H600. i have both an H600 and H510.

the H700 has the choice between graphic or parametric EQ. i personally find parametric easier to tune by ear, with less bands to worry about and easy change in 'Q'.

graphic EQ is 31 band covering front, rear, centre and sub.

parametric is 5 band for front, rear and centre, and 2 band for sub.

the H700 should be far more configurable and tunable than the H600, and even the combined H510/600 setup i use.

so if you have a spare 1-DIN slot in your dash, would be well worth considering.
