Having just bought 2 Boston Pro 10" Subs I need to know what enclosure size would suit them best.

On their site it states .5 cubic foot sealed enclosures for each. Is this figure from a company throwing a marketing gimmick???

Boston seem like one of the least likely to be doing that.

you can put them in a .5cf but they ned craploads of power to get them moving.

i have my gf's in a 1.8cf box it sounds pretty damn good!

I would agree they need more box than .5 cu ft.
At the end of the day more box will give you more bottom end / efficiency at the expense of some power handling. So long as you do not use a box larger than Vas spec that is.

It is common for manufacturers to quote smaller box sizes for convenience (not all buyers regard their boots as simply bass environments as many CAA members do ) and also because they just KNOW we are all gonna throw bucketloads of however much power we have at them anyway.....so a smaller box is often times "safer" for the driver.

Without modelling it, my rule of thumb for a twin set-up would be 1 cu ft each.

i was leaning towards .75 each as i tested one in a .75 enclosure and it still went plenty dep for SQ

they'll have 600wrms each on tap if that helps

Probably around 0.75-1.0 cu/ft will be ok.. 0.5 does sound a little small..

.5 definely looked way to small when i saw one. How will the power handling fare with a .75cubic foot enclosure???
Sonic Nirvana
It will be fine on music, as opposed to SPL burping at low frequencies.
Don't worry at all.

thanks for the help
