Which in your opinion provides a warmer smoother sound? I'm considering switching...just not sure yet... So i'm just looking at my options... Kicker is certainly cheaper! Hence the though...and i've been hearing a bit of rave about them as well...
So what are the thoughts?

I had 12" type R's before and thought they were a very clean sounding sub, i havent had much experience with the your kicker sub

Whoops....guess i should have told you i'm looking at the amps...
Sonic Nirvana
Alpine are typically are clinical sounding amp, the Kickers are generally the warmer, rounder, sound in my experience (I've had a ZR and a V12).

What a silly question hehe

Got a budget at all?

If not, look on www.ebay.com.au in the car audio/speakers section as they have some nice alpine amps going

Alpine all the way I say

i dunno about alpine amps, never had them, but have been using a pair of Kicker IX404 4-channel amps, had zero problems with them electronically, and have has good results with them in terms of sound quality, ive changed almost everything else in my system, but these things have remained. i cant tell you how they 'sound' in comparison to other amps, but they are certainly clean. im pretty fussy with SQ and havent seen any need to change these (at least for main speaker use) so hopefully that says something.

have just acquired a beastly Kicker KX600.1 mono block for sub duty use. NO IDEA how it sounds, will have to wait and see, but i do like kicker product so stuck with them for the upgrade.

amps are a very 'subtle' audio upgrade, at least for main speakers (ie splits etc which are pretty efficient) so be careful about all the snake oil out there

but Critter is the one to listen to, he's personally tried both in the same car, you cant go past real world auditioning experience like that
