If you don't want to get a sub, stick with 6x9s, otherwise go for a pair of co-axials.... 5.25" or 6.5", because 6x9 were built for cars without subs. The air push from the subs will distort the 6x9 by making the cone flap as the 6x9 is trying to produce it's own bass. Did that make any sense? That's what I've been told and it makes sense. For rear fill you can get a way with a pair of co-axials.

kenwood 6*9s and 7*10s are among the best for the price.
the new 400w 4 way 6*9s were going for $200 au autobarn, might be worth a look

Given that you put this thread on the S.Q. forum and that you're considering a sub why go with 6x9"s? To get good bass from 6x9"s you'll need to amp them and given that rear speakers in a small car aren't really necessary I,d definitely put the money you would otherwise spend on good 6x9"s and amp on a sub and amp. The intended sub in your sig. is one of the best and would be well worth the few extra dollars over a pair of 6x9"s.

I swear by kicker's for component setups so you might want to consider the Kicker Impulse 7x10's. Very bassy given a decent 70-80 wrms from an amp. Compensates for a 10" any day!

Jaycar response XL's They are $100, and will do the job. Save the $200 and put it towards a sub and amp
