is the 8051 exactly the same as the 8061, except without 16 balanced preouts? so if you are just using the 8V of the 8061, woudl it be a 8051??

and is the extra money worth the upgrade to the 8051 from the 5441?

thanks

The eclipse range is soon to be updated (have a look at the US site - the new range has been around for about 6 months now). Maybe u can get them cheaper soon.

I bought the 5441 thinking that I wont buy rear speakers.... so ran them off the h/u. In hind sight I'd have gone the 8051 for the extra $200 or so.....

actually not all the eclipse range is changing, only the cd 3412 is being dropped, and the new models cd 3403 and cd 3413 will come in ... oz will be get the new 2004 model products when they change again next year

I bought the CD8051 because it should run cooler without the built-in amps. The CD8061 was a bit out of my price range but as well as balanced line-out it has a copper-coated chassis,free-flow signal circuit?,higher quality components and gold-plated RCAs over the CD8051. The CD5441 only gets a card remote instead of the better NOB rotary encoder but it has selectable in/out RCAs.
All models share the same specs apart from output voltage.

with the 8V preouts of the 8051, would i find that i need to use amps that can take an 8V input signal??

or can most amps take that high voltage and just have the gains really low?

I have the 8061 but have never ran 16V balanced, what amps on the market other than Eclipse can accept it?

Most amps today will accept 8V even when not rated at such.

I'm pretty sure that the ..a/d/s amps can accept it as well.
