hi guys. ive just bought a sony xplod 12" sub. it is in a custom made 'optimum sized' box of one cubic foot, sealed, as sony says to. its running off 2 bridged channels, 500w in total. the box is currently faced forwards, but due to the small opening of the seats, it kinda faces half forwards, and half up....
to get better bass, what should i do?
1. port the parcel shelf?
2. face the sub backwards in the boot?
3. port my 1 cu. ft box?
4. get a bigger AND ported box?
or should i do a combo of these??
any help appreciated, thanks!
ps: sub is in a 4 door sedan R31 skyline

Ported or sealed, facing this way or that, it just doesnt matter IMO. Be realistic about max output from yuor equipment, as your set up can only be so loud and going louder may involve using different equipment, set up etc and to be honest, the limits of your sony sub may be limited at best IMO

Rearloading may work best but he's right the Sony Sub might not reach the expectations you want

hey guys thanks for the advice. i simply faced the whole box backwards and noticed a massive improvement! at same volume/gain levels, the whole interior seems to be enveloped in bass, rather than a distant "doof", im very happy.
i didnt buy the sony to win competitions, im just a beginner, and as its my first ever sub, its already greatly impressed me!
