ey guys....
firstly, my sealed sony sub box is sounding nice and deep now, however, ive been told adding insulation to the inside of the box will make a much nicer sound...is this true? will the subsequent smaller internal capacity affect SQ? how do i do it?
thanks

when u say insulation what do u mean??
if u mean that white fluffy stuff (dacron) this is actually spose to emulate a bigger box i think if ur happy with how it is now prob leave it.. but sure put some in and see if it sounds any better if not simply take it out.

Actually, the point of adding dacron/polyfill etc was to increase the damping, thus the speaker "sees" a larger enclosure which can help SQ..
The problem is it just doesn't make enough difference to be audible and so it is pretty pointless..
You may want to do a search..

if the enclosure is nice and rigid and not ringing when you tap it firmly, then leave it alone.
If rigidity is a bit suspect, then a couple of well-placed braces would be time and effort better spent.

so, you are saying that if a box is built right (strength-wise and size-wise) there is NO NEED AT ALL for dacron?

Not really.
Even though I always do
Coupla bucks, no biggie....
Other things are way more important is the thing.
