At the moment i am running DLS splits all round in my car.

Just wondering about peoples preferences on tweeter placement, i have mine on the dash and the woofers in the doors (VN) and am thinking of doing the same in a VT

i was also thinking of doing a much more SQ style setup in my next car (most likely vt/vx) by doing things like sound deadening and kick panels.

If i had the tweeters in tke kicks and woofers in the factory door spots will it still give me a nice stage height (providing i angle them right) or should i just leave them in the dash????

Or should i just go full out and put the woofers in the kicks as well????

I have mine in the kicks. On the dash the sound is much more "in your face" This in yoru face treble is what impressed newbies, but it really does get annoying listenign at high volumes.

I can take higher volumes (afterall i have 1000wrms on tap for interior speakers)

I dont think it sounds too bad the way it is but i keep hearing alot abut the benefits of kicks and the increase ability to angle the woofers (and tweets)

I just want the best possible position and install on my next car. Now that i dont need to buy anything else I want to put a fair chunk of money to a high quality install

since you'll be starting fresh, you'll have lots of room to experiment. Kicks generally allow better staging as it maximises the distance between speaker and listener. This will in turn eliminate any chance of separation, which you will probably have now, but may not notice. It is particularly evident if your system pulls to one side or drops down with certain frequencies, female vocals tend to do it in most systems.

If you angle them properly, you will be very suprised at how high the image is and wonder why you mounted them up top in the first place. I know i did...

yeah go the kicks provided u have enough power for the tweeters
it will be much more difficult to balance the tweeters if placed higher coz the left tweeter will be way to close to u

i have the mid in modified stock door locations, and the tweeters higher on the door, i tryed all over the car and thats were it sounded best, but the location depends on the listener, speakers and the car

Thiers plenty of power on tap for the speakers, more then enough for the eaverage listener.

I guess i can always try using blu-tack like i seem to hear so many times.

Any Idea about where people with VT/VX commodore in SQ comps or even autosaloons have their speakers located????

I wouldn't put the woofer in the kick - Its going to take an aweful lot of work to get anywhere near the kind of volume the driver requires for effective operation.

As for tweeter location, I would persoannly try 2 spots - firstly the kicks (this is always my preference) and secondly in the panels where your mirrors are. this position has worked extremely well for one of WA's best known audiophile shops, taking out SQ comps consistently. I still prefer well designed and staged kicks though

Not entirely familiar with the VY yet, its my pic of the commodores (other than my all time fav Genuine VN Group A, I have one one day, maybe), anyways, my bro has a brand spanker VY and although its only been a quick look see I think they have a tweeter located up on the dash in what looks like an air vent, factory made custom pod, haha....
