I just wired my Cadence A4 amp up today, thus replacing my older sony 754sx amp. What i wanna know i what should i be listening for when trying to compare the actual sound quality produced by both amps.
The cadence does seem a little more full ranged and less harsh on highs, but apart from that i dont seem to hear that much difference!!
What exactly are the type of things i should be listening for?? is there really a correct answer to my question, probly not, but just want some pointers of what to listen out for!??!

i think the best answer to your question is, if you havent already noticed an obvious and auduble improvement/change, then there may not be one to listen for amplifiers generally have a more subtle impact on sound quality (as opposed to speakers or installation), so its not surprising that your struggling to hear an improvement.
changes you might want to listen for are to:
transparency / colouration
image definition
mid-bass / treble extension
transient attack & decay
and the most obvious: a change in VOLUME

you may find that a similarly powered amplifier, of higher quality, will struggle less with midbass at higher volumes.
more frequency seperation, more controlled/defined mid-bass, and more attack.
more resolution in mids.
As T-Bro said, it might only be subtle, but if all aspects are subtley improved, it can result in quite a gain.
IMO it's the subtle things in SQ that make the difference

IMO the Sony amp aint that bad and the differences betweent he two would have been negligible. If it makes you feel better that you not using Sony anymore then thats a different story

play something demanding, not just bass demanding though.
