Full Version: new car, new subs

well i found out today that the old sub box aint gonna fit in the new car they way I want it because the box is very large, so I'm left with either getting the specs for a new box and building it, or selling up for what I can and buying a new sub and box. Current subs are 2 old Cerwin Vega 10" in a sealed box

I would rather upgrade to a single 12" in a small SQ designed box (will need help with that after a sub is choosen)
I want a very tight sound out of this sub, but also the ability to go low, I listen to mainly r&b/hip-hop, punk, metal and dance (pretty much everything )
Looking at spending about $200ish on the sub without a box, and then extra on top for the right box for my requirements.
Sub will be in the car with my CDT splits 5.25" (Cl-51) and will be run off a Kenwood KAC 848 amp (approx 150RMS for the sub)
At the moment I've sort of narrowed it down to

Hertz Hi-Energy HS 300 12" Subwoofer

Phoenix Gold T12D Tantrum 12" Subwoofer
(go web audio direct!)

Can anyone recommend anything for/against these 2 subs, or add another sub to the list to check out, baring in mind I live in perth and all the other requirements convered above.
I think I've covered everything so far, any more information needed, just ask
thanks in advance

out of those 2 i tihnk i'd go the PG sub to be honest.
i've heard them and they're lovely.

i can't seem to be able to get the HS300's to tune low and i love low bass
