My girlfriends dad has a very nice system, the speakers are a set of 20 - 30 year old Thiel S2.2's I think the amp is a Classe Audio (not sure on power) and same brand preamp and an Arcam CD player.
I was staying over so I took some CD's with me to listen to.
Put Tool's Undertow cd on track 3 Sober and I was blown away it was awesome, almost as good as seeing them play it live.
Then I put Metallica's And Justice for All on, the song One, orgasmic is the only way to describe it, if my home system is half as good as this I will be very happy

I've had some nice stuff at home over the years but for now I get more of a kick out of listening to the car system.
Maybe I'll eventually get those Martin Logans, etc but not right now.

I must be too old! I can't see how that noisy/distorted music could sound good on any system.
Each to their own! I'm not having a go at you. What ever bakes your potatoe.
