CDT Classic Series perfectly fit into that price bracket
there are lots of others to consider, somebody else will fill them in soon enough

On that budget I'd definitely take time to check out some higher end speakers.. If the difference is only $100 - $200 and if your ears say SQ is worth the difference then it might be worthwile holding back and saving up just a little more now.
But for your budget of $600 there's plenty of splits to choose from... best to do some legwork and visit all the car audio dealers in your area (support the industry), listen to as many speakers as you can and decide for yourself. The more you can demo the better the chance ending up with something YOU like.
Plenty of brands have been already mentioned in the forums and 'which speaker should I buy' so search yourself silly
Happy Listening!!

There are many splits in this price range.
PG, Boston, Quart, Focal, Hertz etc.
The Hertz HSK1600 (Now $699) are in Hertz's top
SQ range and have a lot of the same technology at the Focal Utopia speakers but are much cheaper these days thanks to the recent big price drop.
I certainly can not ever remember people talking about Kenwood as a SQ speaker, they do make good entry to mid level stuff tho.
If the Kenwoods interest you perhaps look at the HSK165 Hertz speakers with a HT25 upgrade, these will really supprise you, anyway as I said there are a ton of speakers in that price group and the best thing to do is go listen to a few.

the best speakers for $600 are those that your ears find the most exciting and engaging to listen to, AND, that please you more than offerings from lower price brackets.
simple advice, but guaranteed to get you a system you enjoy
