Hey.

i was wondering how subs sounded firing towards the boot lid as opposed to rear loading. I was told it sounded too boomy but i was after other opinions to back this up

thanks

firing subs to the boot lid is rear loading depending where the sub is mounted
Mr Neil
mounted on the floor... like Mr M3's install as seen in your system/ride forum. i thought this method would be best as it doesnt obstruct the parcel shelf so would help the bass get into the cabin, as per the fact of the solid un-fold-downable back seat and a rear loaded box would probably obstruct the parcel shelf, but the boomy effect i have been told about is sort of a kick in the teeth

thanks

I've usually found that firing upwards is less "boomy" than rear loading, provided there is enough room between the sub and the top of the boot.

most people ive spoken to suggest that it is actuallt LESS boomy

Here is my opinion(not all that informed but make what you want out of my reasoning)

You get the increased output like rear loading because if sufficient distance away from the boot lid the wave has room to develop just like rear loading.
However you should get improved airflow into the cabin because the box doesn't obstruct it like in rear loading.
So it should sound the same just more efficient than rear loading.
