Looking for a good headunit for a mates car.

he is running a Pioneer DSP for all the fancy EQ's time alignment etc, but wants a nice headunit to provide good clean signal to it, and one that looks cool to boot.

Brand is not an issue and budget is around $1,000 - $1,300.

Things to bear in mind.
The DSP is the next link in the signal chain and only takes upto 2volts in so no real benefit in a great 4 volt, 6 volt unit or higher.

He has a fully amplified system so there is no requirement for a powered head unit. IE RCA out's will be great and do not need to have say a 4 x 40 amplifier introducing noise etc...

So with that in mind, a nice sounding clean headunit that looks good. What do people reccomend?
