I've heard them, wasnt overly impressed. They seemed like a huge midbass to me rather than a sub. From memory they pretty much look like a bigger version of their midrange speakers.

i heard the Dynaudio Echo at BAS last year, it has 3 12's in the back and sounded pretty sweet, altho the hatch was open so was probly not as lous as it could have been. About how much do they cost and where can you get them from, ive never seen any for sale.

You havent had me listen to that one yet
I heard the one you had on the demo boards before, just sounded like a large midbass driver to me, that was in a sealed box wasnt it?

Here's a guy that has installed the MW190 in the back of a Ford Explorer in the states:

And a pic of the sub and the basket:

did you compare it with other subs in the shop?
remember that car subs sound relatively weak inside a big open room like a shop compared with inside a car where the cabin's 'transfer function' boost low-end response.

Of course i did silly
On that particular board there was also a couple of Focal subs (including a nice Utopia) and a DDDrive. Since i have one of those it was a good reference point, and the Dynaudio while sounding nice and tight etc, sounded like a huge midbass driver rather than a sub. It was receiving plenty of power too.
Who knows, could have been the box i suppose, i guess i will have to listen to it in that ported box that its in now as well
EDIT: The room it was in was quite small also, as it is specifically for auditioning the higher-end components on that board

Sound quality wise both the 9.5" MW-180 and the 12" MW-190 are excellent. The 12 does require a large box for best response while the 9.5 works well in small sealed boxes and probably offers a more 'car audio friendly' response, ie it hits harder than the 12. But like most subs, they need to be in the right enclosure to show their best, and generally don't work all that well in showrooms.

poida, yeah the dynaudio sub i heard was only in the shop for a couple of days, belonged to a customer and yeah, you were not in while i had it !!!
it sounded much better then the subs on the board, but yeah, they were not really designed for the enclosures they were in !!!

Anyone got any more experience with these in car use? Would be looking at a sealed box in a fairly small car. Want to hear it in a car, anyone know a place where i can have a listen?

The MW180 would make a killer midbass driver!

Saw one at the dB Fever midnight sale the other day.... have heard them though. Price was reasonable.
