Ok, I'm in need of splits. Looking at spending around $500-550 max. Needs to be 6.5" and able to suck down the power.
Now, Sub box. I'm guessing sealed will be better for SQ, but how large shoudl i make it. My temp sub is a Kenwood dB+, which will be replaced with my BA X-One when it gets repaired.
Now as for amps, i'm screwed if i know what to get. I was originally going to get a DLS A3 for splits, but then after my deal on my splits fell through i realised i proberly wont need all that power for my splits.
It has been sugested that i get 2 Lrx's, something like the 2.250. WAD have them for $635, but this seems rather cheap, but it does mean i could have a fs/ and a sub amp combo for $1300.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can listen to my DLS's at some time - they're around the $600-700 mark and handle 150WRms according to the box (in practice i'd say 100WRms) but meh... still loud...
Gotta sd doors though... damn rattles... they handle bass down to like 50Hz without too many issues - I run mine full range... oh and dashmount isn't exactly optimal for tweets... but it'd give you an idea.
Amps - meh- anything between $500-$1000 and an amps an amp IMO - just looks at power ratings etc and if they'll fit nicely in the desired install...
maybe try a nice low tuned ported box - although I dunno how much the cabin gain is down low in the laser - it might become a bit accentuated down low if you tune it too low/flat.
Experimentation

$799 according to Car Toys
a wee bit over budget.
The Audison's arent as sexy as the DLS amps though... But they are blue...ish...
Yeah thats what i was thinking. Plus Sealed is so much easier to work with.

Ask them to print their receipt on bronze instead of the gold you normally pay for seriously try bargaining... they'll do a deal - they're ripoffs who can normally be brought down to RRPish prices

ok need some help asap
so far this is what i have planned
either:
LRx5.600 (RRP$999): $844 (4 x 60 watts RMS + 180 watts RMS)
running at 2x170wrms@ 4ohms + 1x240wrms@2ohms
or... do i save up and get a 2.250 and a 1.400 later when i can afford it...
LRx2.250 (RRP$699): $591 (2 x 120 watts RMS)
LRx1.400 (RRP$899): $760 (1 x 350 watts RMS @ 4 ohms / 1 x 660 watts RMS @ 2 ohms)
as for splits:

well honestly to me i'd rather get something like an srx3, and spend the extra dough on something like a pair of boston pro's instead of the rallyes

What's with every ones obsession with power and headroom these days? I had a set of Boston Pro's (the 6.4's) powered by a quality amp (2 channels off a Phoenix Gold M44), which was under-rated at 55watts rms - 85watts at 14.4v.
The weakest link was my ears. Loud, clear steering-wheel thumping audio nirvana. Forget the power - get some decent speakers and feed it off (as Stik said) a mid range quality amp. Maybe drop back to the 2.150 (is that the model down from the 2.250? ).
Do you REALLY think you're going to notice a couple of extra watts compared to the change from a pair of Rally's to a pair of Pro's?
Ferchrissakes - I ran my Pro's off a little RF 2.3x amp when it was the only amp I had - they still cranked, and sounded sweet.
Enough rant.

Yeah, due to their lack of stock in the 6.5" range it looks like i'll be waiting until friday for my newest addition.
Now its time to find some amps and start buiding a nice housing for them.
