Hi guys, i dunno if this brand still exists but has anyone one heard of them or own them, Do they sound good? cuz i heard quite good things about them but can never find them and info on the net is limited. Need your opinions. how do they compare to like more popular brands like audison or alpin or a/d/s

I would rank it higher than Alpine, it's an old school SQ brand.

Adcom amps are pretty rare...id say its up there with high end audison and other exotic sq brands like that..i hope u got a tree that grows money cos ive heard there very $$$$$$.

i fitted an oldschool adcom class A 4channel to a mates car, really pushed his fronts with plenty of clean class A power, unit itself was verry attractive all chrome bit like the older pg QX series

adcom cut their teeth in the home audio circuit, and it is in this area where they excelled.

they made some damn damn nice amps in the day. we had a traded adcom pre-power (something like 120w) in at work the other day and i'm thinking of snagging it up cos it sounds lush.

it really depends on the amp. as far as the gear itself is concerned, and if its anything at all like their home amps, i'd be putting it up against its brax, audison, xtant etc competition without worry...

I used heaps back in 1995-6, they were the best amps around back them.

The big 4 channel (GF404A?) was sweet.

In 1995 we built a huge system using four 4 channels in a new XR8, complete with Alesis 30 band EQ and a pair of Adcom Balanced Line drivers/crossovers mounted in the passenger footwell (starting a trend).

It used Boston PRO 5.5s, four PRO 6" midbass and three JL 12W6, back then it was an amazing system.

As good as the Adcoms were, you can buy dozens of amps now that perform as good (or better) for half the cost.
