I am looking at amps for my HSK 165's. Audison have a great name around here, so thats what i've been looking at.
I have a question. Theres 3 amps that i'm looking at. The Audison SRx2, the LRx2.150 and the SRx3. Take the 2, 2ch amps, how much difference in sound am I gunna get from them? The SRx2 is 65wrms x 2 and is $299, whereas the LRx2.150 is 80wrms x 2 and is $545. Then we have the SRx3, which is 75wrms x 2 + 250wrms 4ohm or 310wrms 2ohm for the sub.
I kinda like the idea of having a separate amp for the sub, but what do you's think? Am I gunna get heaps better sound from the splits with the LRx2.150, or is it really gunna not be noticable? I'm really on a budget, so the SRx3 really suits me.

Bodyjar runs a set of HSK off a PG XS2500 amp (2x125wrms but underrated)...i also run one of these for my sub. They sounded very good off this amp but they are a few years old now so might be hard to find
In my opionion the extra sound quality of the LRx amps is wasted on the HSK speakers. The SRx are a better matched to the HSK's in my opinion.
Not saying that the HSK's are bad splits but
Personally i would go the SRx2S amp as that gives 2x180wrms and has HEAPS of power avialable. The HSK's would do much better with 180wrms on tap than with 60wrms.
Again theres nothing wrong with running a better amp, but i just like my components matched perfectly.

It depends on what you want to do later on with car audio. If you are happy with those splits and you only want to run 1 max 2 subs then the Srx3 sounds like a goer (or any other 4 channel). If you want to get better fronts, then you may want to look at a Lrx OR any other good qaul amp out their. Remember too that when using an amp for front stage then 99.9% of speakers are 4ohm, so those are the specs you will need to look at not what an amp can do at 2ohm, 1ohm, .5ohm etc.
If you have to go Audison then look at the 2.250 instead of the 2.150, that way if you are upgrading your fronts then you have the additional power need to drive some nicer splits. But on the other hand you may not want to spend any more on car audio, you might not want to enter comps, and if that's the case then stick with the Srx3 OR any other good 4 channel amp and you will be happy.

Sorry if i didnt read the above post wrong...but are u saying that if u dont want to enter comps then a SRx is fine but if u do want to enter comps the get the LRx...? If i couldn't enter a comp and be competitive with a $700 SRx amp then i would be pretty pissed to say the least At the end of the day any mid level and above amp will do ya well if it has a decent ammount of power... comps or not!

I'd go the SRx2, it's so cheap and top quality. The LRx is a bit much for them, and not really needed.

To the post above this last post... Yeah I sort of wrote it wrong, more saying that just cause you are on CAA doesn't mean that you want 'sound competion clarity' You might OR might not. Just a different veiw point. But thankyou for pointing out a pointless part of the post, NO REALLY THANKYOU.

Can you then recomend an AMP that will put out the same as what the sub channel puts out the same or more at 4ohm and 2ohm on the SRx3, that doesn't go taking me too past what it costs to buy the SRx3?
I like the idea of having the splits/sub sep, so when ya get 1 part right, and ya wanna upgrade the other part, the bit ya got right stays the same. (MAKE SENSE?)

much better to spend extra money on splits then amps, you would barely notice any differences on those amps

I can't think of any 3 channel that will outdo the SRx3, maybe one of the Signats?
But problem with 3 channels is a year down the track when you want to upgrade, you waste an amp... and trust me, you always want more!

the only amp i can think of is the DLS series amp. The A5 puts out 500wrms@1.33ohm and 2x50wrms to the splits i think. but they retail for around 1.5k.
THe CA30 however puts out 50wrmsx2 to the spltis and only 280wrms@2ohm to the sub. However they retail for $800-900?? so they are more expensive then srx3, and with less power.
The kicker kx550.3 woulda been nice if only that had in australia. THis amp puts out 400wrms@2ohm and around 75wrms to splits i think.

I'm with Maz: perhaps think about the SRx2S. It would go well with your splits, plus, its pretty versatile in that if later, you want better splits and want a better 2 channel amp powering the splits, you could use it as a sub (600W RMS into 4 ohms).
But as Mick007... consider upgradabililty... the LRx2.250 is hard to go past.
I'm have the Lrx2.250 and the SRx2s and they're both great, only I don't like the design of the Srxs.
