Hi guys
Just wondering if anyone could give any suggestions on a high end equaliser for an SQ system. Prices up to 2K.

I'm a big fan of the Precision Power DEQ-230.

if you actually need an EQ, which many ppl dont IMO, then look at 30/31 band graphic or 5 band parametric. The thing with EQs is you need to get precisly to problem area and so need an EQ that can just effect the problem freq and not the area around it. &band graphics are just toys and I wouldnt even think about anything but the 2 types I mentioned above

Phoenix Gold, Eclipse, Audio Control, Rockford Fosgate etc...all make great EQ's I have used the PG's the most with great results...although the Eclipse is really good value for money

Try this one, Alpine PXA-H700
I don't know if you have an Alpine h/u but this should do most things you'd want even if you use another brand like I did at one stage.

Audio Control are a definite short list item! The new DQT (I think!) will cost you a large amount of folding, but looks pretty darn good!
If you don’t need the bells and whistles, there’s a pair of EQT’s on the FS forum for about a quarter of your budget – one (or two!!) of the most awarded pieces of car audio equipment ever made.
My PG EQ-215 was as good as I ever needed, to the point that when the original got stolen, I tracked down another one 2nd hand 7 years later. Very sweet equipment.

DasherHalo double posted!
Never mind. He has some good advise there that deserves to be said twice!
(and cyber punky should have double posted as well!)
Audio control also make the very commonly used rta machine as often used in the many car stereo shops and comps.

my personal recomendation with a budget around 2k would be a digital eq.
the orion deq30 springs instantly to mind, along with the new audiocontrol digital boxes, but there are many available. alpine pxa-hXXX will do it for alpine buffs. pioneer's p9 is sweet... most mainstream mf's have one good digital eq.
another angle to look towards is the pro audio scene. behringer (usually pretty average) make a really nice digital eq. (the ultra curve pro or whatever they call it. 24/96. affordable). search-out RANE and dbx driverack too. they're not car-audio devices, but if set-up correctly, will do all that you need and more.
cyberpunky has the set-up i believe is close to perfect. h/u digital out --> digital eq --> dac --> vol control. its the most elegant setup to me(your headunit is nothing but a transport. all processing is digital (avoiding many drawbacks of analogue) and you have a monstrous choice of dacs (read: final sound).
hope this helps.

Hey artman are u after a stereo or mono EQ??
Do u want to run a centre channel as well??
I just got my self a oldie but a goodie Earthquake 32 band 1/3rd octave EQ that also has a output for ur centre channel.
I know the guy that sold it to me still has one more, they are both ex demo and he wants only $200 so for that price u cant go wrong ill tell u now im more than happy with my lil EQ.
All the best

I;ve had a Rockford Symmetry (should be able to pick up now for about $750-850) think was great, but not the most straight forward piece of machinery to operate.
only thing to note with the Symmetry is:
1, does it have the 28band eq expansion card fitted (14band normal)
2, does it have the balanced line adaptor. (not expressely needed, but nice to have)
I'm currently using an Audiocontrol DQT (digital stereo 30 band EQ + 2 parametrics) with 8 user memories.
beautiful piece of machinery. cost me $1200 new.
an upfront remote controller is available now or will be soon.
as mentioned before someone is selling a pair of audiocontrol EQTs + a RF Symmetry. i have his contact details if you cant find them in the forums. if space isn't a huuuge issue, get the eqts cos they will be cheaper. you'll need two, as they are mono unlike the dqt.
regards
