a/d/s/ 346is 6.5" splits (Recommended Power 20w-150w RMS per side) Giving around 300w RMS
a/d/s/ 312rs.2 12" Sub (Recommended Power 300w RMS per voice coil - DVC sub) Giving around 1000w RMS
Of course the gains will need to be set to zero but what else can I do to ensure I don't hurt or burn them. I am really more worried about the sub getting to much power and smoking. The sub problem can be easily fixed by getting a second one but that would leave me with little or no trunk space and more $$$ to spend.
I want excellent SQ with decent volume but not excessive SPL type volume. I just want to make sure that the speakers aren't struggling to get power to play bass heavy songs but at the same time safe enough to play them at relatively high levels when needed.
thanks in advance

I wouldnt be worried too much, if you have a sub controller, just turn it down. If everything is turned down and the bass is still too much then worry about things...
The fronts wont see 300wrms all the time so just keep the gain low. Nice system by the way!

Sounds like a great setup, it's all about dynamic range but just be careful on the volume control. I remember an old Alpine demo car had a MRV-1000 bridged into each tweeter.

Well, overpowering them WILL kill them, normal listening, even cranking will usually not over power them... However, be careful with the control till you get "used" to the system, then you should be right to go....

I appreciate the replies ...
I rarely play my system very loud. Like you guys said as long as I turn down the gains, understand the limits of my system and be sensible I should be safe.
However I am taking it upon myself to get a fire extinguisher as a precaution.
