Ok here is the situation
I am getting 2 Boston Pro 12.5LF subs
I have 2 X Audison SRx2s to run them
what options are best
Get the 4 Ohm subs and run each off a SRx2s
SRx2s = 1 X 600w @ 4 Ohm
Or should i get the 2 Ohm Subs wire them in parallel and get a LRx 1.400
and run them off the single amp at 1 X 900w @ 1 ohm and get another LRx 1.400 later on and run each sub off an Amp of there own at
LRx 1.400 at 1 x 650w @ 2 Ohm
Whats the major advantages of a 2 Ohm sub over a 4 Ohm sub. I know the Lrx are a better build quality over the SRx, Cost doesnt factor into the equation, best real world situation does. Also i dont want to go any better than the LRx series, they would suffice. After rereading this post as i see it i would only gain 50w by going the latter option. Thats why i would like to know the advantages and disadvantages of 2 & 4 Ohm subs. Also these subs are SVC.

there are no real advantages of going to 2 ohm subs except to extract more power from your amplifier. your idea of using one amp (srx) per sub (4 ohm) is the best option imo, the bostons will love the power.

600WRMS is ample power for each Boston subwoofer for regular listening so long as your enclosure is designed with this power level in mind, and since you already own the SRx models why not use them? Speakers are offered in varying impedances so that you can correctly match them to specific amplifiers. There are, quite obviously, many different amps on the market and some make their best power/distortion ratio at 4ohms, some at 2ohms and some at 1ohm. There is no other real dicernable benefit to changing the woofer choice around only to have to change the ampos you already own.
Also, two 2ohm Bostons paralleled onto an amp that makes 900WRMS will not necassarily sound much (if any) louder than when each one is driven by a 650WRMS amp at half the load. Consider this. Power handling and efficiency are governed primary by the enclosure used, so if you enclosure design allows the woofer to achieve Xmax (full excursion) from, say, 400WRMS, then pumping any more power into it is wasted and may over drive the suspension system.
While you say it is claimed that the LRx range offers superior sound quality to the LRx (can't vouch for that myself otherwise I'd take Richard Clark's SQ challenge and pocket heaps of cash!), I am very confident that, all being equal, you will not hear and audible difference between two amps performing within identical power output and distortion characteristics - especially for sub bass within which the human ear can tolerate up to as much as a whopping 10% THD before becoming noticable.
