now most ppl will say Alpines crap
same thing happened with Pioneer

I dont think it's so much that Alpine's crap, more that there are other brands which are better for a similar price range.
Though there are some "uninformed" groups that call Alpine over-priced rubbish, but these are mostly the same groups that are running Sony & Boss Audio systems.
To add another twist to my post, I found my Response XL splits more pleasing to the ear than a set of Alpine Type Rs, despite the $300 or so price difference.
