Hi All,

Looking at a new head unit, but I really want WMA capability, not MP3, for ease of use, SQ and size.

The best unit I can find is the 9815, but I really want green illumination, due to if going in a modern Holden. The next step down is the 9813. Anyone know if there is any real SQ difference between the two?

Any other suggestions welcomed.

Oh, any way of changing the illumination of the buttons?

Thanks

Jamie

Clarion DXZ735MP and DXZ835MP. These play WMA and you can change the colour of the illumination.

Kenwoods and Alpine have some good HU's

im putting the 9815, despite the colour issues....

The Kenwood 9020r was a closer match to commodore interiors

why a 9815?? i don't think its that good of a deck ... i think theres many more out there that are much better ... and also it doens't play every single wma or mp3 files .. i find that it doesn't play some due to something wrong with them whereas u can still play them on the computer ... i guess its a little pedantic about mp3 and wma specs ...

Clarion 835.
Awesome SQ...u can fine tune the illumination to match your dash. Good thing is that unlike a lot of other decks, the buttons change colour as well so it looks uniform.

Not to mention the rest of the unit is sexy as too

Clarion ! 835 i got this unit like everyone said looks good with metal alumin face not plastic like the rest looks tough not weak.. heaps of diffrent colours to choose from and if your not happy with them which is impossible then you can make your own or if do cant decide which colour theres a colour scan feature.... nice sounding head unit plus 2years wareent over the rest of the brands

hehe another happy clarion convert

the 835 is a great deck. i'm sure you'll be thrilled with it.

as i've said before, i think its the best deck under a grand. that and they can usually be had for like 650 and yeah.... absolute bargain.

Yep to the Clarion too. Definitely better than the Alpine.

The main difference with the 9815 and 9813 is in the network/x-over functions. Apart from this, they are pretty much the same unit.

I sell the Alpine's and the Clarions for a living over here in NZ and can definitely vouch for the Clarion being the better of the three. I must admit though that if it weren't for the Clarions, I'd most probably have a 9815 as they're still very good.
The 9815 here is NZ$1499 retail and the Clarion is NZ$1200.

I think you will be very happy with 9815.... what more could you ask for from deck???

And if you know how to use it, the alpine i-personalise site is an awesome advantage over most other head decks.

Stick with the alpine.

i find alpine not so user friendly
but that me

Yup, the Alpine is def not user friendly.
But I think with the amount of features it has, they had to find silly ways of users finding things.
The 9815 is nice! Has a little bit of metal on it - so it's okay.
That Clarion is nice - whichever you choose, you'll be happy with it.
I went from a Pioneer 840MP to an Alpine 9815 - couldnt be happier.
Still going over and over the manual though. At least the Pioneer was easy to use, didn't even need to read that manual.
