Kick panels, definitely the way to go with the focals bright treble reputation.
Firing at the windscreen will cause the treble to relfect and the real high stuff will get amplifies and might even sound harsh.

personally I thought putting them up in the dash and pointing them towards the windscreen wouldnt be a very good idea but it all depends I suppose. Best bet is to just run a wire to the crossover from the tweeter (not in the dash or anything, just a temporary wire) and move the tweeter around the car until you find the best spot for your liking. You can just use some blu tac to stick it there temporarily. Once you find a spot your happy with then wire it up properly.

It's all relative, some people LOVE bright bright highs, if you do, put them on ya dash, if you like regular sounding music with highs that match the mids, put them as close to the mid as possible, with the right angle, you'll hardly be able to tell where they are

yeap at the moment i;ve got wires all over the place so i can stick the tweeter with blue tack
jst trying to figure out where to put it at the moment
tried the kick panels and it does give you tat below the feet sound so not too sure bout tat...be pretty hard to get the right angle in this case
the thing with the utopia tweeters is tat they are not as bright as others tweeters...has anyone found this to be the case? or is it jst my retarded ears?
would definitely love to hear from ppl especially with lancers cause that's wat these speakers are playing in
thanks all!
cheers

Utopia tweeters are not as bright as the others, at least my ears say that anyway When testing locations, leave the tweeters in that location for about 1 week so you can get a good idea of what they'll sound like

Make sure ur tweeters are stuck on properly.
My alarm got set off coz the blutac wouldnt hold and then fall.
Anyway, I've heard a pair of utopias with tweeters aimed up to the windscreen.
I only managed to hear the highs....too much bass in that car!!! I honestly started getting sick.
With the sub down, the utopias are quite nice but not to my tastes...

Also with Focal speakers, allow for a 48hr of playing music to break them in, the tweeters will tone down a little after they are brocken in.
My Fav spot though is in the kick panels on axis.
Hav a play until you find your fav spot.

mine are on the a pillars facing slightly forward atm - but will be changing the angle of the pods soon (facing back)
works quite well - and I don't use any attenuation on the tweeters

focals take much longer than that to break in ... give it 6 months LOL ... seriously i had the tn45s theres alot of difference after about a week of usage ... but theres also much difference after 6 months usage which is about the time i was told it will finally break in ... i just bought some JL XRs and i'm not sure when they'll break in but they definitely aren't as harsh as the focals ... much smoother ...
