Wanting to get the JL 12 W3v2 D4. The amp is a Kicker IX405D. The sub channel is rated at 300W RMS @ 2 ohms. It's going into a sealed box.
Is this enough power for the W3v2, or would I be better off going for the JL 12 W0. I want a nice tight punchy sound. Which sub would be more appropriate at this power?
Thanks a lot!

the w3v2 is the better sub out of the two, and it is rated at 15owrms by memory but you can pump heaps into these baby's. if u want punchy bass i would go a 10" IMO. but the 12" have a very nice sound

i currently hav a 12W3V2 D2, i have had 150rms, 300rms, 600rms and over 1kw running ito it for a burp.
i though they were rated at 300rms??? but the jl handled the 600rms well.. got warm but not hot.
300rms will be enough, i just liked the headroom.
I have mine running in a sealed 1.25cf box which is what jl recomends.
cheers Dave

Thanks for the replys guy.
On the JL website they quote the optimum power as 300W. But i've been hearing of most people pumping a lot more into them, so I thought JL was trying to be on the safe operating side of the sub.

They definitely take a lot more power than they are rated for. I used to run a jaycar 2x150 bridged to 450WRMS to my 12w3v2 with no problems. It could even take more than 600WRMS from my 1507. All in a daily driver. Used it this way for months with absolutely no problems. I'd recommend around 400WRMS if you're going to put it in the 1.25cuft JL recommended box size(i used this box size too). But even with 300WRMS, you should be very happy.
