Hey Guys,

I'm thinking of getting a mrv 1507 to bridge to my JL w3 (4 ohm mono). I'm more after SQ than anything, so the gains will probably be turned down. Just wondering how this big AB amp will compare against a class D in terms of tightness, control and overall SQ. I'm tending towards the highpowered AB, as it has the flexibility to run as my front stage amp in the future. For the moment though, I was going to brige my coustic 4x60 to my front splits (HSK 165s). How does this all sound, and will the efficiency of the AB as a sub amp be a problem with the gains backed down?

that's one doozy of an amp for a W3...... tons of headroom...... and as a front stage amp???? how do we say.... overkill???????
but that said...... the results might be interesting..... even tho it'd be a bit of a waste of all that power.....

I'll have the gains turned down, so subs and splits won't be receiving the full amount. And if I upgrade the subs or splits in the future, I won't have to upgrade my amps...

As much as some might disagree, you don't *need* a properly designed monoblock to get great sound from a sub. Class AB amps have been getting good number (and more importantly, sounding good doing it!) for a long time.

That amp will do justice to that sub. .... and if you're not happy, use it for the front stage! Sell the coustic and buy a different sub amp!

The 1507 is equally adept at driving a front stage or a subwoofer. I have tried both, and i used to own a w3. Lets just say i had enough power coming from that amp to power another pair of w3s if i felt like it. The 1507 is a magnificent amp, and does everything well. If you want to run your sub with it, i say go for it

I have a 1505 running my sub which is the older model of the 1507. It runs it very well. Ive also used it to run my front stage which made them sound awsome. Very nice amp for either.
