Hey guys

Looking to spend upto $1000(max!) on a single 12 inch SQ sub. I?m after something loud that plays low etc etc in a small sealed box ~1.5 cubic feet (sealed for ease.... if I have to port I will but id rather sealed)

I think it will be powered by a A7HC (still to buy later) so 1500 watts rms @ 1 ohm (open to suggestions for amps too but will start another thread later)

So far I?ve got the DD 3512 (price??) and L7 in mind ($540 without bargaining). Please keep in mind I?m in SA so no fancy brands that are out of my reach please, id prefer to buy locally aswell. Really only interested in a single sub due to space issues.

Any other suggestion with references to stores I can go audition?

In SA i'd have to say
Eclipse Ti's or the top of the range DLS maybe look at Focal aswell.

If you dont want to limit yourself to whats in SA. I'd be looking at a Adire Brahma, amazing sub! or maybe an Image Dynamics.
I would seriously be thinking outside of SA!

Maybe consider the new DD9112 for SQ... but i think they're around $1300 from GT Autosound (in Glynde)... how are your bargaining skills??

Adire Brahma and IDMax would be my choices, but don't know where you could audition in SA...

It is an awesome sub! The RRP is $850 as well but can be had for cheaper! the Brahma is another that is well known for their quality!

My choice would be the MAX or the Brahma...

The Brahma would suit you perfectly. It has dual 2 ohm coils which are best in parallel and the maximum power is about right too. Price matches and they work well in a small sealed boxes.

Adire have recently released a new revision of the Brahma too.

DD 9512, around the $1200.00 mark my favorite sub out of any sub i've ever heard.

apart from that brahma's are a great choice.

Honestly though, id buy the Beyond Audio Inhuman that The Kid is selling on the forums atm. these were upwards of $1600.00 when new and sound damn sweet!!!

heard it last night and i loved it and at the price its at, its a steal!

The last sub i installed was one of the eclipse 12 inch aluminium domes which i think retails for about 700 bucks. i put it into a 1 cu ft sealed box with a 85 watt x 4 amp, channels 3 + 4 bridged for the sub. The sound wasnt that good as the sub was having trouble playing ultra low tones and was a bit wooly but it was straight out of the box (cardboard) and according to the owner the sub has burnt in very nicely and greatly improved since then.

It may not be a 12", but it does kick much ass. Can even get recones to suit an sq setup and a smaller box.
