Hi just want to ask your advice regarding to SQ...

currently I have dynaudio splits 240 gt pushed by a 4 channel v12 amp.

I'm thinking to upgrade the v12 to audison lrx 2.500...
do you think audison lrx amp would sound better in Quality than the v12?

last week I've tried switching my v12 with crossfire tek 150.2, the crossfire does give more power but sounds rough and lack detail.
basically my 4 channel v12 gives much better quality than the crossfire.

I'm worried after I bought the Audison amp would happen the same case as the crossfire.

Or do you think better to upgrade to V12 mrv-1507?

if u love the sound it has now i would just leave it.

audison have great build quality tho, and if you changed to that i feel it would sound the same or better
l3v4d
I'm not quite happy with my current amplifier because not enough power given to my dynaudio splits...
anyway thanks for your advice

any other opinion guys?

perhaps whom has experienced the difference in sound between the audison lrx series and the v12 1507?

I also wonder does the vrx sound so much better than the lrx series?

because I just notice the price of the vrx is actually more than double than the lrx.

The audisons are known to be SQ amps I think you would be much better off going with them over the alpines which are really nothing special.

If you can affford a VRX buy one, they are considered one of the best mass produced car amps in the world by many people.

As for the LRX's, they are great amps. I had 2 and am very sorry that I sold them..

Given similar power ratings, I doubt you'd hear that much difference unless u really really tried.

Not saying there won't be a difference, but if it were me I probably wouldn't notice a damn thing (except of course for that psychological effect playing on my brain). But that's just me. I guess I'm not a true 'audiophile' yet.

Just consider how much it will cost u for the upgrade. Will it be worth it?

It's not just you mate many self proclaimed Audiophiles can't tell the difference either...and many people who upgrade imagine major differences to justify the large amount of money they just spent... both are great amps buy the one which offers you the features, looks and build quality you want at the price you can afford

Hmmm... my current amp is the alpine v12 mrv-f307 NOT the mrv 1507 and I think it's worth it for me to upgrade to a stronger amp...

the reason why is dynaudio 240 gt demands quite big of power (up to 120 watts rms for each mid bass and up to 150 watts rms for each tweeter).

my amp now is only the v12 mrv-f307
which only produce:
30 watts rms x 4 and 80 watts rms x 2 @ 12 volt 4 ohm or 120 watts rms x 2 @ 14v

if I upgrade to an audison lrx 2.500 will produce 2 x 200 watts rms @ 13.8 volt 4 ohm.

or upgrade to v12 mrv-1507 will produce
2 x 225 watts rms @ 14.4 volt 4 ohm.

much stronger amp isn't it? I think almost double the power than my current amp, that's why I think it's worth it to upgrade.

my question is whether to upgrade to
v12 mrv-1507 or audison lrx 2.500

anyway thanks for the opinion guys

How loud to u usually listen to ur system?

My car runs at 14.2V according to my voltmeter so I can max out my amp at about 128wrms x 2 @ 4ohm. I have my gains on three quarters and it's enough to make my ears bleed, not even at max volume.

I know headroom is good..but SQ is not always about power.

That said (and I know this is not the answer ur looking for), you won't know until you've tried them both. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

If it were me, I'd stick with the 120wrms per channel. Alpine is by no means a bad brand...I'm sure it goes plenty loud already without distorting.

Dude, the gains have nothing to do with how much power the amps can make. The gains are just for level matching, they're definately not a volume control.

Sorry, I should have said those statements separately instead of trying to rush it into a sentence.

1. My amp has max power rating of 2x128wrms @ 4ohm according to birth certificate.

2. My amp gains are on 3/4.

3. Volume (on my Head Unit) is not even on max and it's already bloody loud.

In no way are the three causing or affecting each other.

But just sayin thats the state my system is in ATM and it's already heaps loud.

Once again thanks for your advice

but I'll probably have to try the audison lrx 2.500 first because I've just bought that amp anyway and can't be refund anymore...

So I can take this as an experience too...

Now I can only hope the audison would sounds better...

it'll sound excellent
Take this from somebody who has used

Alpine V12
DLS Ultimate
Phoenix Gold
Audison LRX

the audison sounds MUCH better than any of the previous amps did Directly comparing the audison to the DLS and alpines on the same pair of splits, the audison beat it from both sheer power and warmness
l3v4d
But one thing I know because I've experienced it myself that Crossfire amp not really good to run front splits for SQ, maybe they are good for SPL purposes.

In my opinion compare to my Alpine MRV-F307, Crossfire TEK 150.2 sounds louder but it sounds really rough and lack details.

So in my conclusion, Alpine much better amp for running front splits in Quality purposes.

To: Numb

thanks Numb

at least you've made me confident to use the audison...because I've bought that amp already and still waiting the amp to be shipped to perth...

expected would arrive perth on this Friday
BlackRain
Well i'm quite sure (based on it's reputation), there is no way the audison could be a step down. So you can't lose I guess.

Let us know how it goes, I myself am curious as to how much difference there will be cos I have never heard an audison before.

I hope u bought it through Darren
DRAGON@WORK
I'll be going from some F1 Status 4 Channel Alpines to some Audison VRX's very soon, i cant wait!

Guys, I was the one that supplied the LRX to NUMB and have heard his system before the amp and after the amp. I've got to say that I wan't a big fan of the PG splits he had at first, it was way too cold and the top end was nearing on being harsh (NUMB should be able to tell you my first reaction when I heard it without the Audison) and after the amp change, the speakers almost completely changed it's characteristics. Smooth top end and really warm mid range and mid bass....

Just my 2.2c worth....
shiny_car
yes, you shouldn't be disappointed with the LRx. they are a top series.

i personally find i can hear a difference between amps. the caveat being, you need highly revealing speakers (which dyn's are, and i have dyn's in my car), no ambient noise (so engine off, not driving), a high quality installation (so no rattles/resonance, well positioned/directed speakers), and a high quality sourcve (high-end CD player).

it also means, once you start the engine and drive off, you won't notice the difference between amps.

in your situation, driving dyn's, i would also recommend the LRx over the alpine. i changed from an older series alpine (MRV-1000) to the audison VRx series, and the difference was astounding. the LRx are not dissimilar in SQ to the VRx. what's more, i dropped in power output on paper, but the splits still go loud enough.

at the moment, i am temporariliy driving my 2-way dyn splits from only 2 channels of my VRx6.420, with a rated 65WRMS on tap per channel. still drives them plenty hard for daily listening.

good luck
Damo95

I'm with Shiny on this one..

you cant fault the audison with a set of Dyn's up front.. im 'currently' running my Dyn 240GT off an LRx2.500 and the sound is awesome.. they seem to love the 200wrms im feeding them, and can take it daily..
why i said currently is because i will soon be running fully active front stage, off an 2.500 & 2.150.. mind you, i will have a PXA-H700 processor running the show..

i'd use the LRx 2.500, you wont regret it..
l3v4d
just want to let you guys know and together write review for my audison amp...

I just got my audison lrx amp yesterday and I found out it's really an amazing amp for SQ purposes...
I didn't believe myself till I tried that amp last night...

which it's actually far2x way better than my alpine amp...
can be concluded 2x - 3x better than my alpine amp...

my midd bass now sounds warmer and tweeter also sounds really sweet, no harsh at all and no distortion sound at all...
so now, all it shows only clarity and quality...

I love how my dyn splits sound now and I'm very2x happy to have this amp

for people looking for good amp to feed their front splits for quality purposes (especially dynaudio), trust me this audison lrx would be the perfect match for them !!
