Hey folks,

System is for a 2002 au3 falcon sedan.

The aim of the system is SQ obviously, and my main concern is achieving an overall sound as opposed to a bass bin which I would absolutely hate as an end result.

I've not settled on amps, HU, subs yet, but for the cabin speakers:

Fronts are the Total Recoil 6.5" diecast splits amp'd
Rears are TR 6x9's from the HU
Subs 2 TR 12" single magnet subs (pref, can be had for $400ish for the pair).

I auditioned the splits in the TR demo car and loved them, they are new in the box going into the car - the 6x9's ive been running for a year or so in the old ford.

I'd like somewhere around the 100+wrms for the front splits... maybe the Audison SRx 2S ? Ideally looking to mount under the driver seat.

Front doors will be sound deadened by the installer, the drivers mounted to the factory location and the tweeters embedded into the a pillar (best tweeter location?)

My main issue is with the sub's... will 2 be too much or can 2 12"s be used to match a good SQ system? Planning to power the TR subs in series with a 600wrms +/- monoblock, in individual 1.5 cu" sealed enclosures. Anything else around for the $200-$250 of note? Alternatively $500 on a great single 12" if it can do the job.

Is it an issue to mount the subs in none standard sized boxes as long as the internal volume is the same? I'd really like to mount the subs opposing each other on the left and right side of the boot, so that I can drop down the seats and still use the boot for storage. Could this work?

Sound deadening for the boot would be a layer of g-spot across all surfaces and then deadening sheets across the underside of the boot lid that I'd do myself.

One last thing.. the audison is a little pricey and powerful for my needs (maybe? - suggestions for both a sub and front stage amp?

HU needs to do nothing but look like it does the job and be an excellent source unit, pref $500-700.

Best installer around Melb for the job? Or any CAA members of note that can do quality work and are happy to be paid for it?

Anything I've missed?

Major thanks to anyone taking the time to respond to this

For a Sound quality system you dont need 1000wrms of amplification, as for normal/loud listening levels u'd be lucky to be using half that.

I'd be going for quality amplification over quantity. Most Sound quality splits may be able to take 100wrms but it doesn't mean you need 100wrms of amps when for normal volumes they will be seeing 50rms. A 75wrms will be more than enough.

I'd seriously look at the Audison SRx3 for $625 as the basis of the system. This amp won a major award because its such good value.

That would probably save money on amplification so u can spend more in other area's. For the headunit u'd want more than $500-600 preferably closer to $1000 to get something with SQ features.

A single 12inch Dual 4ohm sub with a budget of $500 would provide better sound quality than two $250 subs. Someone will recomend a good 12inch.

You can then easily mount the sub in a corner as you said and not worry about interfearance between the two subs. When having two subs its advised to have them facing a similar direction so they are in phase.

For Sound Quality instalation is everything, u'd want atleast $1000 for a SQ instalation. There are a few members who have spent $1000 on sound deadening alone.

Good luck with the system

Thats an awesome amp and exactly what I'm looking for.

Quality single sub setup is the path I really wanted to travel - thanks for the info.
