Hi guys

I have recently upgraded my sub system which consist of a Xtant x1001 and a pair of Xtant X1044 subs (dual 4 ohm)wired up to run at 1 ohm with 1000 watt rms. And the box has been built ported.

The problem is that after the install is finished, it seem to be too loud for my taste even with gain turn to minimum. And the whole soundstage had been pulled to the back.

I know that there are lots of you guys who konw a lot more than I do, I would really appreciate if some advice can be given upon to solve this issue.

Thanks for your help

i dont know your headunit but i assume it has a sub control? if so turn it down some more, turn off the loudness if its on and flatten your eq.

Yeah, check all of the head unit and EQ settings, especially the sub level control..

If all else fails, you could always re-wire the subs for a 4 ohm load - that will definitely make it quieter..

what are you HPF and LPF at?
you could try dropping the xover points of the HPF and LPF if you haven't already. even allowing a gap between them. eg my system 340s are HPF at 63 and my IDMAX LPF at 50. i found setting both at 80Hz creates a hump in the bass and drags the sound stage back.

other option is turning up the gains for your splits.

Hi

Thanks for your advice guys, my HU was on defeat mode (everything is neutralised). I will try all the options stated and see how it goes.

However, my friend told me that he would just hook the sub amp to one sub and the other sub will be disconnected and be used to balance out the sound. I have no idea what he is talking about though.

Turn the gains down

your sub arrangement is too big, too overpowered and tuned too high - no remedy did you really expect your little front speakers to be able to keep up with that beastly bass behind you? less is more with SQ.

i think bassA's suggestion of trying them at 4ohm overall is worth a go. you can then tune the gains and sublevel control for the results you want. but if it's not enough with that method...

not sure what car you have, but you may be able to reposition the subs, face them a different direction, etc.

and are the gains for the front splits tuned as high as they'll safely go? or is there more in it to help balance things up?

good luck

Double check the box volume and port tuning.
For SQ I'd run the one sub at 2ohms from that amp.
Keep the port tuning nice and low and it should blend very well with your Dynes.
