hey all,

Just got myself a pair of Hertz 8" woofers (the HV200s) to go with my HSK 5 1/4" splits, and I'm wondering what would be a good box size to mount them in.

Basically after them to play some tight midbass and to fit inbetween the 5.25 and the 12" sub in the back....

I have the exact same woofers in my doors. They kick **** , they play alot of midrange and im running them in a 2way setup upfront.

They are installed in 8litre sealed finrglass enclosures in each door, The box's being this small gives a Qtc of around 1.0 which is perfect for midbass performance.

If you are going tomount these in the backof the car i wouldnot bother, they wont be much tighter than ur current 12's, if u want more midbass just up the low pass frequency on your subs.

If your gonna mount these in the front of the cr then they'll be great as they will bring the bass forward. If u want alot of midbass upfront, id seriously look into mounting an 8inch sub upfront in say the passengers footwell. If it only plays up to say 200hz i doubt u'd pick the bass is coming from the left side of the car.

they certainly are going in the front, to act with the 5.25s as a 3way split setup. So you think about an 8L sealed box? Good, something to work on after i get over the hangover from tonight!

Nice. it'll be very hard to fit 8litres sealed in the door though, i had to make special pods that run the full length of the door.

Also u'll need the sealed box to be quite thick, atleast 2 or three layers of matting.

My enclosures are thin and have a few leaks, but i just put them together in two days.

Step-by-Step Photo Guide to build my pods.

i was most likly going to steal cyberpunky's idea and drop them onto the floor if i can tuck them away somewhere where i'm not going to kick them all the time!

Door pods is kinda out - the doors sit really close to my side, and the map pocket is my organiser for basically everything. Even more so since i droped the screen into the middle pocket of the car!

edit - so to get the 8L did you end up using the whole of the door?
