Hey there

I currently run dyns system 240 Mk2 and want to upgrade my amp. ATM i run a Rockford punch 301X and have found the quality to be dissapointing, with an evident lack of midbass.

I am thinking of either getting an alpine v12 or a crossfire vr series, perhaps even an audison lrx. What do you think would be the best amp to get in terms of SQ. bearing in mind i wish to keep the power at around 150 to 200 wRMS going to each split.

Cheers!

Go the alpine MRV-T420, has the power you need & with the summer sale on you could prob get one for $500. it's been a long time since I was in Perth, but see Grant @ Alberts Morley he will cut you a great deal. Another amp that impressed me was a Boston GT22, Good luck

plenty of people run dyn's with audison LRx (and SRx, VRx) amps, and the comments are usually very favourable. they seem to match very nicely.

alpine V12's are also an excellent amp. some people find them slightly less 'warm' in their sound compared with say the audison's. so a little more 'sterile' and super clean. (i found this to be true when i upgraded from series I alpine V12's to audison VRx amps.)

i'm not familiar with the crossfire range in terms of SQ, so cannot comment.

From your choice of the V12 Alpine, Crossfire and Audison, I'd pick the Audison.

Imo, you wouldn't notice the difference between your 301x and a comparable V12 Alpine or Crossfire.

Whats your budget ?

Mohan.

How do you know its not the speakers than the amp? Grab an amp from a mate and wire them up, if there is still "an evident lack of midbass" then it could be the speakers.

I know I dare blasphamise on the Holy Church of Dynaudio, but could be an expensive exercise to swap amps but still have the problem remain! Have you exhausted all levels of tuning via EQ and crossover settings?

I've recently sold 2 Audison Lrx amplifiers to customers who were basically asking the same questions as you are. One was using some Dyn 240GT's and a Alpine Amplifier (can't remember what exact amp it was) and he too was a bit cautious but after the installation, he was totally satisfied. The other customer was no other then NUMB (WA state rep. He had he's DLS amplifier and we replaced it with a LRX and he was always very impressed.

Just my 2.2c worth...

LRX for Dyn's of that list.
