Full Version: My SPL sub choosing dilemma

Well im have trouble choosing a new sub since my 30 dollar tandy sub is just about dead since the recent sound off I attended.

I have to decide wheather to buy a lower quality 15inch sub or a higher quality 12inch sub. well I have the MTX 4000(T4154A) 15icher or the MTX 6000(T6124A) 12icher in mind, is there any way to find out which one will best suit my needs for spl and everyday sub. I will probably be giving it about 250rms.

Also I can get them both for around the same price. The only thing in the 15inch favour is it has more cone area.
The MTX 6000 12inch is a higher quality sub and it looks better.

Its a really hard decision to make as I have heard both subs and I like them both, is there anyway to tell wheather a sub is going to perform better then the other by the specs.

Specs:
MTX 4000

MTX 6000

thanks
Shane

well. for every day street use, i'd go the 12" as it wouldn't sound as sloppy and atleast you'd have some SQ. as for SPL, it should be just as good.

well normally, I'd say the 15" especially with only 250w.rms, but I'm not a fan of T4000s if they are both around the same price, then I'd get the T6000 which is a significantly better sub IMO - you may also want to consider some other brands as well

Id go for the 6000- far superior sub and proven good SPL, plus the added benefits of better looks and better SQ.

A T4154a in 5 cubes sounds sweet, there's no way a T6124 could keep up.

Also listen to a Signat ESW15 or PG Tantrum 15.
