I am looking at getting a mono block amp. At the moment i get a massive voltage drop when i play music (voltage at the amps drop from 14.4V to 11V)

Would it be worth my while installing 0guage from the battery to my distro block in the boot?

Also could i still use my 4ga earths, or would i need new ones???

Would it be worth my while upgrading my batterys ground??? With 0ga?

If you are experiencing voltage drops at the battery with your current wiring, then upgrading to 0ga won't help.

If you did install 0ga wire, you would also have to upgrade the grounds to 0ga. (power and ground should be the same)

Before upgrading to 0ga to the distro block, have a look at upgrading the 3 main system charging wires under the hood.

Alternator to Battery
Alternator to Ground
Battery to Ground

once these are upgraded you 'should' notice an improvment. If not you might want to look at a better battery and/or alterator too!

i don't think he would run 0 to his amps. more likely to a DB and 4awg to his amps which would be fine and able to keep his 4awg earths

Grounds should be kept the same size as the power wire so yes upgrade the grounds at the same time.

dude your only pulling 56A max with your Jaycar amp and ur volts are dropping from 14.4V to 11V?? Get a new battery for sure bro. whats the stock Accent's battery? I would check but my mum is out with her's... like 300-340cca or something?

Ah true true... But bro when u get your monoblock just have 2 runs... leave your current 4GA for your little amp and fat sexi ass 0GA straight into your monoblock... distros just look pretty, and just add resistance. less interconnects the better

upgrading the cabling could help, what cable is running to the amp atm?
how long is the run?
V/I=R
3V/60A=0.05ohm
a 3V drop can be caused by a resistance of 0.05ohm if you're drawing 60A.
0.05ohm could be found in a 8gauge cable, trying to carry 60a over 5m, maybe.
it migh tbe a combination of that, and small resistances in your fuse holder/battery terminals and cable connections.
when you are experiencing these voltages drops are your headlights dimming too?
measure the voltage at the battery (put multimeter probes onto battery terminal posts (not terminal claps) and see if the BATTERY voltage drops.
if the voltage at the battery drops below 12V then replace the battery.
otherwise there is no need to. your battery will not help to sustain 14V.
if the voltage drop is only at the amp, upgrade your cabling.

Hmm, I am getting dimming headlights etc. I was gonna upgrade the battery aswell as the 0awg. Hmm, i wish i had my old amp so i can see if there is a voltage drop at the battery (i think there is...)

thats some pretty hardcore voltage drop you're getting. as mentioned before, check for voltage drop at battery and at the amp's terminals... if there is a greater then 1v difference, then think about uping the wire.

i think the only time my voltage dropped below 12v was when i was playing sine waves, not bloody music...

I can't see if anyone mentioned it, but get extra 0awg, (or 00/000 of you can afford it) fo redoign battery, alternator, and alternator grounding runs. Those are the big weak spots in small cars.
