Hi All,

I am currently looking for a high powered monoblock to run in my spl setup, it the moment i am going to be running a single woofer setup. I have been doing my rounds looking at amps and so far i have come up with:

Earthqauke phd2
JL 1.1000
Lanzar 2000D

Is there any other amps (upto around $1500 in value) that i should look at?

What do people think is the pick of the bunch and why?

out of the ones you chose id wuld lean toward the d2 as they can be burped after beign modded slightly to run extremely low loads and will do more than the rated 2kw @ lower loads

Lanzar's are cheap as chips though. picked mine up for $850 second hand. 1800wrms@1ohm... daily driven at 1ohm, doesn't get warm at all.

D2 power wise will win. are you going to be using the piston? the d2 will be fine for 2ohms.

Lanzar 2000d has 4x 30 amp fuses,I'm pretty sure they are unregulatered so need a strong 14volts to make there power.They sell for $249us on several sites in the states which is a bargin if your mate can bring it back or you live there.Out of the 3 you listed D2 handsdown.

remember, that for a given heatsink size (and efficency), and amplifier efficiency (most D class amps are of similar efficiency) the amp which is hotter is generally putting out more power

i am no maths genius....

120A*14.4V*100%eff.=1728watts

i don't see how the lanzar puts out 1800w even at 100% eff. my JBL also has 120A fuses, and it's rated at 1200wrms, so maybe that is a more realistic power output.

get the D2, more power.

The JBL 1200.1 will put out 1200wrms@2ohm and the D2 1600wrms@2ohm whereas the Lanzar only puts out around 1000wrms@2ohm (unsure of the exact figure, I only remember its not very impressive)... Anyone wanna donate me some dual 2ohm subs so I can load down my amp

I have a 200DHC Earthquake Digital, and it's rated at 2000WRMS at 2ohms, how come u said it was only 1600WRMS? Cos i am frigged if it is, as i was told by a reputal company when i bought it that it was 200WRMS at 2ohms!

Concept D2400A

Good part is you can get lots of power at 0.5Ohm if your using a 12V (normal car batts) setup. Just remember they can draw up to 200 amps (like any 2kw+ amp will).

Oh, and there might be one or two available for around 1500.

The D2 & Lanzar both have unregulated power supplies. I emailed Lanzar and they said the 2000D is good for up to 16V
