SS1-2

"what rules would need to be taken into to compete in this class.."
is it just me or does that not make sense?
if you want it to be competitive in SS1-2, good luck, here's a checklist:

big excursion subs: inhuman, DD, shocker etc.
big ass amps: PHD2, Zapco, 8100D bd1500 etc.
wall
look for 165+db to be competitive.
OR swap the 15's for 12's and get a bigger amp instead of your 2. then you'd be cometitive in S1-2.

problem with that, is that SS1-2NW is rarely run.
i've never seen that class run at a comp myself, as there aren't enough competitors.
so they get chucked in with SS1-2, and are disadvantaged.
ignite would be in SS1-2NW too.

icebreaker
to be realisting, in comps small comps around the traps.
if you can do 150. you'll be competitive for a time.

your going to start seeing big numbers around the place.

but not many ppl are breaking 150 really.
so aim for that, to "Keep it real"

ive been competing in SS1-2 this year, and no-one has cracked 150 yet. at supernats, there was a 149.8, but no 150!

ive found that most of my competitors (in NSW) are doing mid-high 140s in SS1-2 (like me )

if thats the setup u wanna use, get more powerful amps, like the Kenwood KAC929 (it will do over 550wrms at 4 ohm) as opposed the the 719 that only does 300wrms (from memory).

SS1-2 means 2 subs, 2 sub amps, max of 2 OEM size batteries, and the box below the window line, and NO WALL!!

150+ to be competitive i believe..

the only class u will win doing a 150 or less is S1-2 or S3-4(lack of competitors)

BLAH @ QUEENLAND

ps i think u would be lucky to do a hi 40s on a good day

Bit off there bro.

6-8c - There are no limits to the number of “stiffening” capacitors that may be used.

6-8d - There are no limits to the number or type of batteries that may be used.

Hmmm can't find the bit about amplifiers but I think its as many as u want, someone fill me in.

ok SS is extreme with stock cabin infront of b pillar.

no limit to anything eg amps batteries and so on

u could have 30 woofers and 60 amps and 180 batteries if u had a bus but the cabin infront of b pillar must remain stock. stock glass etc and only 2 layers of SD which is used to stiffen not deaden

there are 2 SS1-2 classes - wall (SS1-2) and no wall (SS1-2NW)

max of 2 subs obviously, and no limits on batteries, amps etc

but there is a special note:

QUOTE
The classes listed above are the recommended standard classes for dB Drag Racing. Typically, all of these classes will be offered at multi-point events. However, if there are fewer than 8 entries in a given class, or if the event is a single-point event, the show promoter may, at his discretion, combine one or more classes in order to fully populate the elimination brackets. In any case, the number of classes offered, and their specific breakdown, is at the discretion of the show promoter.
