I've just been told that my 2 Crossfire 12's could be a 6 week to 6 month wait away so they have given me my money back. I am chasing a good spl score. Which other subs are best for SPL in a small hatch?? I was considering 2 15" Soundstream SPL's or four jl 12's or 2 12's still but now I just don't know what to get?! Idea's! (I have a 1000watt digi to run the subs)

what class would u like to compete in? the three different setups u mentioned there are three different classes!!
if u can find SPL 15"s around, they are awesome! (I was hitting mid 140s in a small hatch off only a total 700wrms in a sealed box with two of these subs..) in a big ported enclosure with ur amp, expect close to 150dB! (but, the same can be said with many different 15s too)
what budget do u have? and how much room to play with?

Hi, yeah my budget is around the $1000 - $1300 mark. I was hoping to compete in the street class 1 - 2 or 3 - 4 but the hatch area isn't all that big. (Pulsar ET) I only want numbers above 145db as my 21" sub was getting up to that!

If you wanna stay in street you can't use 15's...

if u go to super street with the 15s, u will be at a disadvantage caus u are only using one amp. in SS, u can use more than one sub amp (which most ppl do).. basically, ur competitors will most likely have much more power!
u will do over 145s with two SPL 15s in a ported box in an ET with the power u have.. (if correctly setup)
a better alternative (keeping ur budget in mind) is to grab two SoloBaric 12s.. running off ur 1000wrms amp in a correctly designed ported box, u should be hitting mid to high 140s, and u will still be a Street 1-2 competitor!!

go and grab 2 Alpine DVC 15" Type R's. that will rattle your car to bits.
or if you want to stay in the street class. grab the 12" series and put as much power into them as possible and get a correctly tuned box made professionally.
From waht i'm told. I should be getting inexcess of 150db from a competition setup with 2 SWR-1221 subs. 2 ohm + 2 ohm Type R DVC 12" subs.
I'll be putting about 580rms into each sub from the one amp.

150db+? I sure hope u do, it definitely won't be easy. lots and lots of testing will be in order. What car you planning to do this in?

Get two twelves definitely the best idea.
Alpine 12inch Type R's? they are a fair bit under budget but 500wrms would be very nice with these.
1000wrms isn't really enough power to run more than 2 woofers, so stick with two. and go with 12's as street 1-2 is easier to compete in

SPL 15s surprised me.
We got 153.4 off a pair in Willy's Corolla SEDAN!
But better numbers are assured with some of the newer generation woofers like DDs etc.
Look at DD 3512s or 2012as, very well designed and hand-made in the USA.
www.ddaudio.comWe've also had good luck over the years with MTX, and I'll done a few nice cars of late with Alphasonik

i think you should get 2 8" tornado's and run them off your head deck not in boxes. they will rock!
