Ok, being in S1-2 I need to know the best possible battery I can find that will fit into the stock position... being a tiny position, it's going to be VERY hard for me...
Maximum dimensions of:
Length - 21cm
Width - 14cm
Height - 20cm
I'm pretty sure the YT is too long, and the Powercell GT12-70AH is 4cm too long aswell...
Anybody have other suggestions?

Richie,
Go with an Odyssey 1000. Just by looking at the rough measurements there it seems like it will fit pretty easily into that space.
Otherwise even an 800 may do the job but you would have to look up some stats for that one.

I had a good talk to Ange on the weekend about the rules concerning batteries because I was under the impression that no modifications could be made to the position but I was wrong (should of got a 12" battery after all) He tells me that it is completely legal to hack up the tray to fit a bigger battery in aslong as it is in the stock location it is legal.

Yeah, that was my impression from reading the rules aswell, but i wanted to be safe...
IN this case, i'm going to see if I can fit the battery i have already (its 30cmx15cmx17cm) If not, maybe a Powercell GT12-100AH or the trusty YT....

This has been discussed on termpro and the certified judges agreed that NO modifications to the OEM battery tray were legal in Street class..
if you do modify it, rememeber that it WOULDN'T be legal at a certified event in the US or elsewhere in the world

phew! lucky I didn't get the 12" after all then. Now we just need some certified events to kick the modified tray guys in the butt

Or do what i did, take the battery tray out.

That'd be just as illegal as modifying it...
Is it possible to put a battery in that goes over the tray edges? its still in stock position, and isnt modifying anything...

Then you run the risk of fouling the bonnet and arcing and such.. plus I dun think your factory tie-downs would reach would they ?
Looking at the battery tray in the Festiva it appears to be a plastic Chinese take-away container.. if yours is anything like it it would prolly crumble under the strain

I remeber talking to police a while back, they said if people hack up their battery tray they will defect em (in QLD that is)
Check it out with QLD transport first Richie, 1 call could save you alot money and license points.

But if it's all done properly, they can't defect me... I want to get my system all Stret legal, so don't worry about me doing anything wrong...
I just need confirmation from probably Angelo or Wayne Harris himself...
