ok. i've got a 12" DVC (2ohm) Alpine Type R in a 1.5cu.ft box with a 4" wide by 29.6cm port.

winISD says that it's tuned to 38 hz.. is this an ok setup. i couldn't fit a bigger port in without having alteast 3" space at the bottom of the box.

and another quick question. On average, how many db's does it take for your vision to go blurry when you look at things. 130??????

thanks
Andu
vision to go blurry? wtf? ummm 160? lol I dunno, never been there before.

38hz is a good start for spl tuning... chop port as necessary.. maybe go 2 - 2.5cubes for the type-r

Sounds Ok.. of course, the car, amount of power, box position, mic position etc. etc. have a lot to do with the SPL..

Keep in mind that you will need at least a port diameter (in this case 4") between the port mouth and any obstructions (ie box walls) or the tuning will be lowered..

As far as blurry vision goes, it depends a lot on the frequency, I have been in cars that make your vision a little fuzzy and they have only hit around 140dB on the meter..
halo99
yeah if you hit around 30hz you can't see **** ....well you can it just looks all fuzzy and blury but about 110db's will do it a little bit. and it really depends on the car. i have been in a car going @ 140 and didn't do it at all.
SUBWRX
yer that box seems quite small for the sub in a ported box. is there areason whys its liek this?

and vision blurry ive never hear such a thing why would your vision go blurry?
Civic_DD
I have been made physicaly sick by a 12" run of andu's amp(i hadnt drunk in weeks and i barfed out my window) while playing some realy deep low songs. We ended up scoring 138 with the doors open so i dont think you can take estemates from bodiely reactions.

Lol at spelling but cbfed fixin.
Slider
i guess if you get the front windscreen to flex enough then when the light bouunces of it it will look blurry. or if your in the same boat as me and you wear glasses then your vision goes blurry when they vibrate around

and for box sizes for type-r's speak to Andu as he was hitting pretty high numbers with two of them.
SupraBOY
i think my vision goes blurry cuz the punch is hitting hard through the seat which rattles me. if you get what i'm talking about.

but if i turn it up and look at "say" the LCD on the HU then it appears to go blurry.

i do have 2 of these subs for my car, but only one is in so i have something to listen to.
Bassaholic
yes, its most likely the seat rattling you, so your head shakes.. in my experience its not just the windscreen, its everything you look at
GHT-251
I reckon its just the soundwaves going through your head and body becasue im running one 15" kicker in a 3.80cuft ported enclosure tuned to 27Hz and my eyes go blurry eg looking at cars or signs or people walking

and it happens when looking out with the window down asswell really cool
TEGBOY
That should work well. I have 2 x 12" Type R in a 1 cu ft for the pair of them. I have a Orion HCCA 225R running them, I have low 142's with them, and they still sound awesome in SQ setup.
bassmekanik
my 2 type s 10's running brigged off a usaudio 504 can make my eyes rattle at half volume with any thing between 25 and 30 hz but it peaks alot higher than that in spl
