I'm SUREEEEEE a year or so ago, i read an article, about some dude with a barina (older model) with a 10" sub in it, ported in a relatively small box, with a port coming out the "side" of the box, towards the boot.... I'm soooo sure the article was about the loudest 10" in australia..... is this true, i can't remember, but it was some outrageously high score, like 158.* or something, you see, i REALLY can't remember But, can someone help me out? I'm thinking i should go build the loudest 10" Maybe....
Depends on what people say (i'm thinking of using a Brahma 10" btw )

No-one has hit that high with a 10" sub in Australia that I know of..

Boyd (from TR) did hit 155.x with his 15" sub and 4 1400w ppi amps in a Barina a few years back...
mistersparco
loudest ive seen was about 141.6dB for a single ten on a termpro meter, but thats just in south east QLD, and recently.

The car was originally built to do 170dB with a single 15" sub (which he did last year).. But this year, to be competitive he needed to hit much more than 169, so he rebuilt the car to suit two 18s (and hit 174.8dB at finals)

I know some Australians are going to get REAL loud in extreme 1-2 next year..

He wanted 170 with a 10" and would of got it i think. But yer went the 2 yellow rockets and 16 viper 1200ds. But his problem was keeping his note under 80hz.

hahha.... sorry for doubting you
NUTTTR
169?! PHWWOOOAARRRRRRRR lol
i was hoping for 150+..... maybe
What, in peoples opinions would be needed... I've got (getting) a 1400w @ 4ohm amp, meaning 700wrms per coil (dvc, according to brahma website and specs, is WELL WELL WELL over what the brahma needs to hit xmax) and running in a ported box Which would be louder, in peoples opinions, or from what they have seen, a 10" brahma, or a beyond x-one....?
Aparantly, from what i've heard, the beyond x-one 10" and 12" have very nice sq!! Can anyone confirm this too? This is gonna be fuN

yeah the BA's sound pretty good, much like most subs in that price range. have you considered the DD 3510? That amount of power would be perfect for it
Earthquake
But there was a fundamental point missed, they guy used a 15" motor on a 10" Basket!!!!
Ear bleeder
but, a 10" sub is a 10" sub no matter what motor was on it

DD's were originally designed as an SQ Driver. They just happened to get very loud too

i know someone that pulled 141db from a single 10'' JL W3 on a 4ch JL amp but the box was ported and about was over 1mtr x 1mtr x 1mtr the car was a 2002 subaru forster wagon
Advenjah
Well my best "reading" has been 143.9 from a kenwood db+ 10" and 300wrms but yes the meter was high, but only by about 2 db or so. I will be giving it over 900wrms soon and hope to go over 145db on a true reading meter. This is in a s1-2 set up in a integra with a 2.9ft3 ported box at 51hz.
Who ever said 10's weren't loud!
rollasx
The RBCAD Loudest Single 10" record is 140.8dB set by Ken Or in a RAV 4.

That you guys might be interested! But some of those figures you guys are quoting are totally nutsoid!!!
